diskspace events Exchange 2013 CU2v2 (1006)

Hi,

We recently configured several Exchange 2013 CU2v2 servers, and receive this event constantly :

source : MSExchangeDiagnostics
eventid : 1006

The performance counter '\\servername\LogicalDisk(HarddiskVolume1)\Free Megabytes' sustained a value of '107,00', for the '15' minute(s) interval starting at '7/08/2013 8:11:00'. Additional information: None. Trigger Name:DatabaseDriveSpaceTrigger. Instance:harddiskvolume1

The performance counter '\\servername\LogicalDisk(D:)\Free Megabytes' sustained a value of '9 052,00', for the '15' minute(s) interval starting at '7/08/2013 8:11:00'. Additional information: None. Trigger Name:DatabaseDriveSpaceTrigger. Instance:d:

Actually there's no diskspace problem on these servers, and I don't get where it get this value.

The performance counter '\\servername\LogicalDisk(C:)\Free Megabytes' sustained a value of '7 002,00', for the '15' minute(s) interval starting at '7/08/2013 8:11:00'. Additional information: None. Trigger Name:DatabaseDriveSpaceTrigger.
Instance:c:

Is there a place where I find the default settings, and lower the tresholds a little?
I don't want to ignore the events in the monitoring, since the counter itself is quite important.
The 2 last ones seem to be correct, but I also don't get where it gets the first one from.

Cannot redirect HTTP to HTTPS after upgrade CU2

Hi all,

I have Exchange 2013 server , after upgrade from CU1 to CU2 recently , it cannot redirect http://webmail.mydomain.com to https://webmail.mydomain.com/owa anymore.  When I use IE, it shows :

The website declined to show this webpage
 HTTP 403
Most likely causes:
•This website requires you to log in.

What you can try:

Go back to the previous page.

More information

This error (HTTP 403 Forbidden) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but it does not have permission to view the webpage.

For more information about HTTP errors, see Help.

And Firefox shows a blank page. This is what I found in IIS log :

GET /owa/ - 80 - x.x.x.x Mozilla/5.0+(Windows+NT+6.1;+WOW64;+rv:23.0)+Gecko/20100101+Firefox/23.0 403 4 5 15

All IIS configuration is same as before upgrade to CU2, I followed these guides :

http://briandesmond.com/blog/redirecting-owa-urls-in-exchange-2010/
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998359%28v=exchg.141%29.aspx

I will post my web.config in /owa directory if you need.
Hope somebody can help. Thanks in advance.

Exchange 2010 Hub failed to deliver email from a Linux SQL server

Hello There,

Exchange 2010 Hub servers have issues to relay emails from a Linux application (sql) server, Exchange has no issue to receive the message, However, it failed to deliver end user with the following error:

RecipientStatus     : {550 5.6.0 CAT.InvalidContent.Exception: InvalidCharsetException, Character set name (DEC-MCS) is invalid or not installed.; cannot handle content of message with InternalId 4268561

I have done some Google search, someone mentioned similar case by applying Exchange SP1 rollup, or by create a remote domain and change Character set format from there. It seems both solution cannot help

1. We are running Exchange 2010 SP2 with rollup 5 v2 already

2. for Remote domain settings, what format we should change to for Character set name (DEC-MCS) ?

Any suggestion? Thanks a lot.

ExchangeMailboxAssistants Question

Implementing retention policies on Exchange 2010. The retention policy is configured to permanently delete items in the designated mailboxes after a set time period.  Event ID 10027 gives details when the MSExchangeMailboxAssistants is processed. I have to know how many emails were deleted from the mailboxes for each work cycle.

In the event 10027, there are details for the process. One of the things in the event says TotalItemsPermanentlydeleted. There is another one that says TotalItemsExpiredByDefaultExpiryTag. Right now I only have two mailboxes configured with the retention policy because we are testing it before rolling it out for all mailboxes. So there can't be that many items that are being deleted by this policy.

Which one of the details in the event actually shows how many emails were deleted by the policy for a given work cycle? I would think that it is the TotalItemsPermanentlyDeleted, but the number of items it is showing as deleted is very high, much higher than I believe it is since there are only two mailboxes using this policy.

Microsoft Exchange (powershell) in-use mailboxes corruption?

A considerable number of our mailboxes are giving the error :

WARNING: The object c0e1229a-f91f-49e9-b2b2-25ea5020c95c has been corrupted, and it's in an inconsistent state. The
following validation errors happened:
WARNING: Cannot extract the property value of 'DeletedItemCount'. Source: PropTag(DeletedMsgCount), PropType(Int),
RawValue(-2117), RawValueType(System.Int32). Target: Type(System.Nullable`1[System.UInt32]), IsMultiValued(False).

in the powershell when trying to run Get-MailboxStatistics, as well as in the exchange admin center when attempting to look up their recent usage. Acknowledging the error in the exchange admin center allows us to see a very normal looking mailbox usage report. The problem is, while about half of these are unused or deleted mailboxes that we could diagnose by just deleting, several of them in fact are very often used. Their users have no issues using their email, sending/receiving constantly, and in my opinion these errors have probably existed for a while considering how recently I have joined and started automating some of the procedures with powershell.

how can we resolve this issue, as the results being printed in serveral powershell scripts are pretty nonsensical and filled with these warnings.

I don't know what caused it. Everything's been running fine for a long time. Then out of the blue this.

Using the EMTShooter didn't manage to resolve this. The hint about bindings isn't relevant and I even deleted the bindings and the EMTShooter recreated it correctly. But still I get the redirect issue.

Has anyone got a definitive solution to this?

Exchange 2013 EAC - Blank page after login

I have installed Exchange 2013

3 Servers - EX2013MBXA and EX2013MBXB (Mailbox Role only on each Server - DAG setup) on Win 2012, andEX2013CASA (CAS Role) on Windows 2008 R2

EX2013CASA Server has SSL Cert form internal PKI (URL is https://owamail.Domain_Namr/owa)

All was OK and then suddenly when accessing EAC from Internet Explorer type in URL as above and logon as Domain Admin and then just get a blank page.

I have tried New-ecpVirtualdirectory and New-OWAVirtualDirectory as suggested on some sites to reset ecp in IIS.

Get-ClientAccessServer shows my CAS Server (EX2013CASA)

Worryingly

Test-ecpConnectivity -ClientAccessServer EX2013CASA reports

"The specified computer isnt a Client Access Server"

Any Ideas on blank EAC and the above error message ?

Many thanks in advance

cleaning up Mailboxes (Delete emails older than 30 days and X size)

We have a requirement of cleaning up Mailboxes (Delete emails older than 30 days and X size) for some employees. Does MS exchange 2010 has any native support for this ? we are planning to do this for 2000 mailboxes on a daily basis based on a condition older than 30 days. Can some one please guide on how to do this ? If RetentionPolicyTag is the only option, How
efficient it is to implement this for 2000 users ? Can you please suggest us the best practice ?

Thanks in advance

Exchange 2013 CU1 MailboxRestore never gets past "InProgress"

$

New-MailboxRestoreRequest never finishes. I have to set it as a high priority to get it to even start, but after it starts, it just hangs.

Here is the command I ran to do the RestoreRequest from a recoveryDB to a target user folder

New-MailboxRestoreRequest -SourceDatabase RecoveryDB1 -SourceStoreMailbox "test exchange" -TargetMailbox "Exchange Recovery" -TargetRootFolder "ExTestRecovered" -AllowLegacyDNMismatch -SkipMerging StorageProviderForSource -Priority Emergency

The -SkipMerging StorageProviderFor switch is recommended in the release notes, and fails without it.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150489(v=exchg.150).aspx

Doing a Get-MailboxRestoreRequest shows me "InProgress", but when viewing the statistics, the StatusDetail shows Relinquished, with no good indication as to why.

Exclude sender from distribution list

Hi,

In previous versions of Exchange it wasn't possible to exclude the sender when he sends an email to a DL that he is a member of too.
Is there a possibility to do this in Exchange 2013?

Deleting an Exchange Database

$

I'm new at this company and I've been doing a lot of maintenance and clean-up that hasn't been done in a long time.  On their Exchange 2010 server there are two databases, one contains most of the mailboxes and the other "exec data" looks like it contains a lot of the most recently added mailboxes, but I don't see a reason to separate them in another database.

I ran a local move request to move all the mailboxes on to the main database. Once this is done, is it save to dismount and delete the empty database?  Any considerations I should be aware of?

Frontend Transport - Unhealthy - Event 4, ManagedAvailability

I've been getting the error message below in event viewer, that indicates that the Frontend Transport service in Exchange 2013 is unhealthy. We are having random problems with UM not picking up, so I'm investigating every error message I see. So I would like to try to resolve this error message. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Exchange 2013 Transport Rule Fails 1 out of 1000 times.

Hey Guys:

Thanks in advance for the help.

All of my emails go through a third-party spam filter prior to hitting my Exchange 2010 SP2 CU3 (Version 14.03.0123.003) email server.

I have a Transport Rule setup there to automatically delete anything coming in with the "X-SPAM-FLAG" = Yes.  My spam filter marks this flag when it suspects spam.

I have ONE user who keeps getting a couple of spam every two weeks get through the system.  I've looked at the log and verified that it is in fact deleting 99% of his spam, but 1% of it gets through sometimes.

I've also tried a rule to delete emails with "*****SPAM*****" in the subject line (the SPAM filter does this as well) and even THAT rule fails sometimes.

The weird thing is that it just seems to be happening for one user.

When I look at the email logs these emails appear just as any other email would, like nothing is wrong.

When I look at the header it shows the X-SPAM-Flag = yes.

I'm sort of out of ideas.  Any help is appreciated.

Exchange 2010 using non-existent certificate

My exchange 2010 cert expired, so I went out and got a new one from godaddy, installed it, and assigned it to SMTP, IIS, etc...

But, when I open outlook, I still get the typical error indicating that my certificate is expired. When I examine the certificate (from the outlook error popup), it is still showing the old, expired cert. At this point I actually removed that old cert from the server. It doesn't appear in the certificates MMC, Exchange list of certs or IIS list of certs.

So why is outlook still producing the error?

Hi I have this querry, but it seems that powershell only sorts the items by its number value. How can I sort TotalItemSize by its bytes

Get-Mailbox -Server server01.domain.com -IgnoreDefaultScope | Get-MailboxStatistics | Sort-Object TotalItemSize | FT DisplayName, TotalItemSize

User0                                            2.927 GB (3,142,540,900 bytes)
User1                                     2.954 GB (3,171,835,975 bytes)
User2                                              208.3 MB (218,466,864 bytes)
User3                                            209.1 MB (219,220,247 bytes)
User4                                              227.2 MB (238,197,431 bytes)
User5                                                230.4 MB (241,579,414 bytes)
User6                                            268.9 MB (281,926,061 bytes)
User7                                             27.72 MB (29,069,644 bytes)
User8                                             270.3 MB (283,465,688 bytes)
User9                                                    29.03 MB (30,444,448 bytes)
User10                                         295.6 MB (309,909,793 bytes)
User11                                                     3.003 GB (3,224,569,519 bytes)
User12                                           3.017 GB (3,238,978,160 bytes)

How can I do this in powershell?
