Hi,

I need some help regarding the DAG automatic switch over to secondary site in case of network failure or some other network glitches. we have two sites and each site have two server containing all exchange role. I face issue that my databases automatically mount to the secondary site in case of network connectivity lost then i manually bring it back to the primary site. i restrict it by activating only  intrasite command. Now i am facing issue that DAG is automatically move to the secondary site and it continously online there, i need to manually move it to the primary site. is there any command that also restrict the DAG activation at the primary site? Is enabling DAC mode help out in this issue. Please suggest.

OAB not in sync on two Exchange 2013 servers

$

Hello everyone

Hopefully, someone of you can help me. We have two Exchange 2013 servers with Mailbox Role and DAG and both of them also have the Client Access role.

If I run "Get-OfflineAddressBook | Update-OfflineAddressBook", the oab.xml file is successfully updated on the Exchange Server hosting the database where the Offline Address Book resides.

The problem is, the secondary Exchange Server does not get the updated oab.xml file in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\ClientAccess\OAB".

We use Citrix Netscaler in front of those Exchange Servers to do load balancing. Some of the clients are getting the OAB correctly, of course those who are pointed to the correct Exchange Server hosting the updated oab.xml file while accessing https://mail.domain.com/OAB.

Some clients don't get the updated OAB as their are pointed to the other server by our load balancer.

So what might be the problem, that the second server won't get the updated oab.xml file? Is there a way to force this sync? I don't see any errors in Eventlog regarding this issue.

I know, in Exchange 2010 there was a File Distribution service, but this service is not available anymore in Exchange 2013.

Thanks for any hint.

René

Hi

We implement a Archive policy with Default policy Tag(DPT) having retention time for 5 days which implemented automatically to entire mailbox. Then enabling the User mailbox to Archive, link it the archive policy. And after that when we open outlook it starts work with archive policy. But when we got offline means disable the network the Archive folders in Outlook are not visible but which supposed to be visible also in offline.

So please guide if there is any settings which is also visible in Outlook offline mode.

Please give the solution.

Redirect from ecp(eac) to mailbox settings.

We've disabled access to eac from all external CASes with this command:

Set-ECPVirtualDirectory -Identity "CAS01\ecp (default web site)" -AdminEnabled $false

And we've leaved one CAS with lanonly connection for administrative purposes, it's
available by https://internal.com/ecp/ But it's accessible only for one administrator
account. Second account with administrative rights is redirected after login to
external address https/external.com/ecp to the page with mailbox settings instead of eac.
Both accounts have the same RBAC rights "Organization Management". Maybe somebody have an idea why?
All servers are Exchange 2013 CU12.

How to maintain Distribution List edited by EMC for 2010 under Exchange 2007 environment ?

We have Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010 servers under the same organisation but admin by different subsidies. Each one only own one version and administrate by their own people. One day received report from Exchange 2007 administrator that he cannot modified distribution list. Error message is "You must use management console version 14.0.100.0 or late to modify this object." Suspected the cause is due to previous introduction of a testing Exchange 2010 server and use that EMC to edit that subject.

Is there any way to solve above problem ? Preferred that is one time effort. Is it possible to fall back its properties to allow it to be editable by Exchange 2007 EMC ? Unsure whether installation of EMC for Exchange 2010 can help and whether there is license issue ? Thanks in advance.

400 4.4.7 Internal Emails From Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

I recently added an exchange 2013 server to an existing 2007 installation with the latest Service Packs and Update rollups.  I was able to migrate a test mailbox to the Exchange 2013 server but now I can't receive emails from either external or internal users to the mailbox located on the Exchange 2013 box.  The queue on the Exchange 2007 server shows the emails with a 400.4.4.7 error and ultimately they timeout.  Any suggestions for troubleshooting and resolving the issue would be appreciated.

Creating Address Lists in Exchange Online

$

I wanted to post this so others wont go through the headaches I just went through trying to create Address Lists in Exchange Online.

First, make sure you are assigned the Address List role.  This isn't assigned to any group by default.  I had to add it to the Organization Management role.

Second, don't use double quotes in your powershell commands anywhere when using the "RecipientFilter" parameter, only use single quotes.  Using double quotes will give you the error "Cannot bind parameter 'RecipientFilter' to the target. Exception setting "RecipientFilter": "Invalid filter syntax."

This was the big one I wanted to point out since I spent the most time trying to figure out why this wasn't working.  I was using PowerShell commands that I successfully used in my on-prem Exchange as well as copied the commandsexactly from the TechNet articles for New-AddressList onExchange Online (the double quotes around the Name is what caused the command to error out).

So, I hope this helps some people since I couldn't really find anything related to this quirk.

For the record, the syntax that worked for me was:

New-AddressList -Name 'O365_AL' -RecipientFilter {(RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox') -and (CustomAttribute15 -eq 'o365_mail_user')} –DisplayName 'O365 Address List'

Changing the DSN Message

Dear All,

I was working on changing the DSN message 5.7.1. Let me share its the background.

Our organization has the policy to disable user accounts in active directory and disconnect users mailbox immediate when they left the organization. Other users inside and outside organization who don't know about this closure of availability of particular has informed via notification message until their account and email has not been removed from organization.

This has been done by adding Users own email address on "Accept Message from Message" Delivery Restriction.

When Others are trying to email that particular he/she have got the below message:

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

smtpaddress@domain.com

Your message can't be delivered because you do not have permissions to send to this email address. Ask the recipient’s e-mail administrator to grant you permissions and then try again. For more information about this issue see DSN code 5.7.1 in Exchange Online.

Now our director wants to get this message change to:

Your message can't be delivered due to following reasons. Either the email address you are trying to reach does not exist anymore OR you do not have permissions to send to this email address.

For further details please contact the recipient’s e-mail administrator.

Please let us know your ideas.

I tried to modify DSN using the article share below with URL. but it creates a Custom DSN but it is unable to implement and we are still getting the previous message.

User having issues with cached mode after migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013.

We recently completed mailbox migrations from 2007 to 2013. There were no issues until the last person, who happens to be the head of the company. With him we have had a lot of issues with Outlook connecting and staying connected in cached mode. Outlook version is 2010. The particular user has at least seven PCs in various locations throughout the US that are all running at the same time and we have tried rebuilding the OST on most of them because the migration caused them to blowup in size.
The mailbox is about 8 GB in size.

I am wondering if the issue could be related to having so many Outlook clients connecting to the same mailbox at the same time and trying to rebuild an OST that is this large. Could that cause issues? We've changed a couple to online mode and they seem to be working better but we can't do that with his laptops.

I've tried using a hosts file on a machine having the issue and bypassing the load-balancer but it did not help.
Also, Activesync and OWA work fine with his mailbox. Just Outlook having issues.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We've opened a case with Premier support but they have not been very quick to respond.

Thanks

Kenny

Strange header appearing in email in sent folder - Outlook 2010

My hotmail account just got converted to exchange 365.

My mail client is Office 2010 on my desktop computer.

Yesterday sending email worked just fine.  Nothing was strange about its being send

Issue #1:

Today when I send an email, the view in the Sent mailbox has this between the subject in bold and the Sent: line

/O=FIRST ORGANIZATION/OU=EXCHANGE ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP(FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=000161609767DF8C; on behalf of; MyName <MyName@hotmail.com>

What could be causing that?

Issue #2

And my wife says that when she receives and opens the email, she sees a winmail.dat file attached to the email, even though the test email only had "read OK?" in the message body.  And I do not have a sig.

Any ideas what happened?

My other hotmail accounts do not appear to have any problems (but I have not done thorough testing; I have not queried other folks who were recipients of my email).

Exchange 2013 - Zero touch Outlook profile generation

Hi,

To provide automatic zero-touch Outlook profile generation (for Outlook 2013), based on the logged on users Primary SMTP address in AD, and auto-discover.

We set the "Auto configure profile based on AD Primary SMTP address" to Enabled in the HKCU\...Outlook 2013\...Exchange Admistrative Template. We are running Exchange 2013 on-premises.

However, Outlook profile is not auto generated and after manually create the Outlook profile, is prompting for credentials every time when open Outlook.

P/S: The registry key, software/policies/Microsoft/office/15.0/outlook\autodiscover - zeroconfigexchange is set to 1.

Is there another settings need to be set in order for zero-touch Outlook to be working?

Thank you

Publish Public Folder Calendar Online - How? [Exchange 2013]

Hi

I've been trawling the web trying to find out how to 'Publish Online' a Public Folder Calendar but have had no joy.

Public folder Calendar created (Exchange 2013). Read permission given to anonymous, myself & a couple of others as authors.
I need to get to the point where I have the ics link for the calendar.

The info I have been able to find says to browse to the Calendar in public folders, right-click it, go to 'Share' then 'Publish this Calendar'.

As soon as I do this I get the following error:

Back Pressure events despite large attachment rejection

$

Hey all,

I wanted to get some feedback regarding some recent back-pressure events we've been experiencing. We're running 2 Exchange server 2013 CU7 nodes in a DAG.  I've created a rule in mail flow->rules to block email attachments larger than 35MB.  The maximum size of sent and received messages is set to 35MB via set-transportconfig. I've determined the BP events are due to high version buckets, which correspond when users attempt to send large attachments, generally over 100MB in size.

Is it possible, even with the organizational size limits in place, that when a user attempts to send a large attachment (and subsequently receives an NDR from Exchange), this large attachment remains in the user's sent items folder, which means it remains in the user's OST file, and that those changes are still written/committed to the mail.que and EDB files on exchange? (causing the BP event).

If this is true, would a more recent Exchange CU possibly improve Exchange's handling of large attachments in mail flow->rules?  Aside from configuring the Outlook clients to reject large attachments via a registry modification, I cannot think of a more effective method of blocking them.

Assistance welcome.

Hi Team,

We have multiple users using 3MB, 5MB, 10MB attachment size allotted.

I want to increase attachment size of  users having 3 MB to size to 5 Mb. Please share any command or any good step but other user attachment size should not be violated.
