Need to create a new Activesync policy in Exchange 2013

Hi All,

I have received a request from my MDM management team that they would like me to create a new rule/policy in Exchange that no new devices should connect to my Exchange server using ActiveSync connection.

I was going through http://exchangeserverpro.com/preventing-new-activesync-device-types-from-connecting-to-exchange-server-2010/

but this will block to everyone in organisation, i would like to create a rule/policy to only uses who are particular server (5 server) which i manage as Exchange admin. So it should not be effective to any other users.

Hello! Please help :-) - need to execute Get-MessageTrackingLog command but it understands AM/PM date/time format only. For example,

Get-messagetrackingLog -Start "7/14/2015 09:00 PM" -End "7/14/2015 10:00 PM" -Recipients "user@company.com" |Where {$_.eventid -eq "SEND"}| Select {$_.Sender},{$_.Recipients},{$_.TimeStamp},{$_.eventID}

How can I use Europian date/time format? I need this command should looks like:

Get-messagetrackingLog -Start "14/7/2015 21:00" -End "14/7/2015 22:00" -Recipients "user@company.com" |Where {$_.eventid -eq "SEND"}| Select {$_.Sender},{$_.Recipients},{$_.TimeStamp},{$_.eventID}

Thank you :-)

Hybrid deployment mailbox synchronization question

I hope I have this in the right forum:

So, we have our faculty and staff on-premise and our students getting setup with office365 accounts.  Our students get created in active directory and then Azure Directory Sync syncs that user account to office365.  Then a license is applied to that user to get a mailbox on office365.  However, the user doesn't show up in both the on-premise mailbox list it only shows in the office365 mailboxes.  This means that when you are on the on-premise accounts webmail or outlook you cannot find that office365 user in the GAL.    However, if I run the command Enable-RemoteMailbox -Identity "user" -RemoteRoutingAddress "email" on the on-premise server the user then shows up as an office365 mailbox and then works in the GAL.  But, I cannot justify running this command on every single student account that gets created on office365 so there must be a better way.... Can anyone point me in the direction of what I may be doing wrong in my hybrid setup?

How to proxy for user hidden from the GAL in OWA

Office 365 2013 -Local AD Dirsync'd to Office 365, no local Exchange

We have user accounts for users who have left the company but whose mailboxes we don't want to delete yet so their supervisor can review them.  I want to change their mailbox to a shared account, give the supervisor access and remove them from the Global Address List so that other users in the company don't think that they still work here.

I can change the mailbox to a shared mailbox, delegate access of a user's account to a Supervisor in Exchange Online and hide the account from the address list.  If they are using the Outlook client, the user account will appear on the left side of the supervisor's Outlook client even though it is hidden from the GAL.

However, if the supervisor is using OWA, when they go to open the mail account for another user, there is no way for them to pick the 'hidden' user because OWA searches the GAL and they are not in the GAL.  Is there any way around this?

New SSL Certificate - Reconfiguring Exchange to use FQDN - Exchange 2010 SP3

We are using Exchange 2010 SP3.

Our SSL certificate in Exchange is approaching expiration.  I used the "New Exchange Certificate..." wizard to create a new certificate request.  In this process there are certain internal host names added as Subject Alternative Names, including the internal client access server name.

While submitting the CSR to godaddy that is when I learned it is no longer possible to include internal domain names on a public SSL certificate.   (More info: GoDaddy's explanation of the changes

I have found various websites which provide tools and instructions to reconfigure Exchange Server to use your external fully qualified domain name.  (Example of GoDaddy's instructions, and Example of Digicert's instructions)

This process includes the following:

1. Changing the Autodiscover URL

2. Changing the InternalURL attribute of the EWS

3. Changing the InternalURL attirbute for web-based offline address book distribution

My question is in regards to internal Microsoft Outlook Client mapi users.  When I look at the account settings in Outlook the server is the internal host name of the client access server.

Since the internal host name of the client access server will not be in the SSL certificate will Outlook break?

Do I need to manually change this for all internal mapi clients?  Or will autodiscover take care of it?  The self signed certificate for the internal name of the client access server is still valid, is that all the internal clients need

Thanks anyone.

Migrate to Exchange

Hi,

I'm planing migrate from Mdaemon to Exchange but I get a problem with username and password in AD. I cant export it to CSV.

Therefore I need set a new user to authenticate for all mailbox like the guide below.

Microsoft Exchange

If you're migrating email from the IMAP implementation for Exchange, use the format Domain/Admin_UserName/User_UserName for the UserName attribute in the migration file. Let's say you're migrating email from Exchange for Alberta Greene, Bobby Overby, Irwin Hume, Katrina Hernandez, and Mathew Slattery. You have a mailbox admin account, where the user name is mailadmin and the password is P@ssw0rd. Here's what your migration file would look like:

https://support.office.com/en-sg/article/Migrate-other-types-of-IMAP-mailboxes-to-Office-365-58890ccd-ce5e-4d94-be75-560a3b70a706

But I dont know how to do like that in Exchange 2013.

Plz help me, thanks

List of Exchange 2013 Event IDs

Is there a complete reference of all Exchange Server 2013 Event IDs for all Server Roles, particularly for Mailbox, Client Access and Transport? I can find an Exchange 2010 one (e.g.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298018.aspx) but nothing for 2013. If there is no 2013 reference, are the 2010 Event IDs directly applicable? Many thanks.

Question on OAB download during Mailbox movement.

Hi All,

I have deployed Exchange 5 2013 (3 multi role and 2 CAS )in my environment, i already have Exchange 2010 servers. All users mailbox resides on Exchange 2010 servers as of now.

I have created a new OAB for 2013 server an arbitration mailbox and assigned the new OAB on 2013 MBX DB's.

I am planning to perform a move mailbox for users starting next week in phase wise. And my question is after moving the mailbox from Exchange 2010 to 2013 will the outlook client try to perform a full OAB download for moved users mailbox.

If yes how can i plan to restrict the OAB downloading size for these users, as i don't want every user moved start the Full download of the OAB immediately and cause N/w bandwidth choke up. As my OAB size is ~790 MB and i have around 8000 Mailbox's.

Everyday i plan to move at-least 200 mailbox's.

Can i Hardcode DSaccess in Exchange 2013 server.

Hi All,

I am looking towards hard codeing DsAcess for Exchange 2013 server which should only discover 2 of DC which i would like these Exchange 2013 servers to connect to for any query. Both Exchange servers and DC's are in the same LAN subnet , same Datacenter and the network connectivity is also very good.

Is it possible to do it, or do you sense any issue on it.

Admin cant see ActiveSync device details

I have a number of Exchange admins, all in the Organization Management group, however i have 2 of them that are unable to see activesync device details.

For example, they go to view the activesync devices of a user, they can see the device and block/allow/delete it, however if they double click on the device to see details like last sync time they get taken to the AS policy page.

Any thoughts?

Exchange Servers (2013) C drive running out of space

Hello,

I have 2 Mailbox Servers and 1 Client Access Server with DPM up and running for backups without any issues. I understand that if the DPM is running without any issues, it should purge the log files on the Exchange Servers.  The total users in my organization is 110. For some reason, the C drive keeps filling up every month and I have increased it up to 120 GB now, it still runs out of space.

Message Size Restrictions

Would like to have all users have message size restrictions set to 10MB send/receive. Except for some users the limit will be larger.

Set-Mailbox "alias" -MaxSendSize 10mb -MaxReceiveSize 10mb - can this be run on all mailboxes:

Set-Mailbox -MaxSendSize 10mb -MaxReceiveSize 10mb ??? If I don't specify individually.

Maybe?? Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited | Set-Mailbox -MaxSendSize 10mb -MaxReceiveSize 10mb

I would then need to change settings on receive connector and transport service setting

to allow 25MB limit.

Then change setting on individual mailboxes that are allowed to accept 25MB.

Exchange 2013, works with OWA, but not outlook

I recently installed Exchange 2013 into my Exchange 2007 environment. I got everything working, almost. I moved one mailbox over tot he 2013 server. If I login through OWA I can send mail, get mail, both to and from the other exchange server as well as form and to the internet. But if I login with Outlook 2013 things are not right. First of all when setting up the account, if I try and connect to the 2013 server it cannot resolve the name. I have to put in the 2007 exchange server and then it will resolve and automatically switch the server to the 2013 server. But once I get in I can't see any users when clicking on too. And If I try and send a message it says "The operation failed". I can use that same outlook to connect to my 2007 server just fine and everything works. And again if I login to the 2013 server via OWA everything works. Any help would be appreciated.
