Bing Maps Not Working

We're getting ready to migrate users into Exchange 2013, from 2010, and everything seems to work fine except Bing Maps. The other apps that I've tried seem to work, but when Bing Maps detects an address in an email, you click the button, and it says "We think we're found an address" (or addresses), then it pans to the right and says "There was an error contacting Bing Maps. Please try again later." Since I've set up the server, I've never done any configuring of this, or any other, app, so is there something I'm missing? Is there a log somewhere I could check? What could possibly be the problem?

Remove Database with Public folder mailbox. Cannot remove.

Hello,

we have 1 Exchange 2013 server. We had some issues with a database. In the end we couldn't mount the database and decided to create a new one.
Now we want to remove the database. It came with the message: couldn't remove because it contains mailboxes.

There is only a public folder mailbox database in it. We also cannot remove this mailbox.

What can i do? I know Adsiedit can remove the database. Will it causes issues with the Public folder mailbox?

We don't use the public folder.

allow non-admin limited access to create/manage mailbox

Exchange 2013 sp1 cu7

I have a specific set of access I want certain non-admin users to have to mailboxes. The Mail Recipients & Mail Creation role groups are much too open. I created 2 new role groups, based on those default groups and have made multiple attempts at getting the right role entry settings, but it’s not working. Some settings I think I have fixed, but others I can’t figure out how to gray out.

Here’s what I want to allow:

Create a mailbox

Browse to AD and associate the new mailbox with an existing user account from a specific container

Choose the correct mail database

Enable/disable ActiveSync

Enable/disable OWA for devices

Enable/disable OWA

Set the Retention Policy

Issues – On the New Mailbox tab, ‘Browse’ to AD is grayed

    On Mailbox Features tab, all options are available for editing instead of just the options I listed above.

Exchange 2013 & 2007 Certificate Installation

Hi,

I have been looking at the procedures for installing Exchange certificates in 2013 and for Exchange 2007 of which I have found a lot of great information. The one thing I cannot find is regarding, how far in advance I can install a certificate?

Can anyone advise on this?


Disabling Mailboxes for all Disabled Users in Domain : Please help?!

Good morning all,

We have hundreds of disabled user accounts in active directory, but they all have active email addresses.  I would like to know the commands to:

1) disable the mailboxes of ALL disabled Active Directory User Accounts

2) delete all disabled mailboxes?

3) set exchange to automatically disable the mailbox when the associated user account is disabled

4) set exchange to delete the mailbox when the associated user account is deleted

Is this possible?  I really would like to clean up our exchange server, but i'm not very savy with all the new Powershell Scripting

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

How to resolve the "Unhealthy" state of Monitoring in Exchange 2013 using SCOM

We are configuring SCOM for monitoring Exchange 2013 setup.

There are certain alerts related to health of exchange servers 2013 as follows.

How to resolve them OR if errors are not relevent how to disable this?

How to remove a hard deleted CAS virtual machine from Exchange organization

Hi,

I had to scrap (hard delete) virtual machines running CAS (Virtual Machine B) and Mailbox roles (Virtual Machine B). 

I have installed a new CAS and mailbox server. 

My outlook clients are still trying to connect to the old CAS first and then to the new one.

How to get rid of the old CAS server for the queries clients are trying or possibly how to remove it from the system.

I do not wish to configure CAS Array type of configuration.

Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2013: microsoft outlook is trying to retrieve data from the exchange server

Hello,

A client of us gets a few times a day the message in the bottom of his screen that outlook is trying to retrieve data from the exchange server. It happens every day, a few times a day. It has migrated from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 and has created a new profile. The database the mailbox is located in has many users and no one we heard reporting the same problem. The database is also up and running, no errors etc. The client uses Outlook 2013 and says they have a stable internet line and haven't had this problem with Exchange 2007. They also have this on all their accounts.

The only thing I can think of is that they use two domains in Outlook. Both on the same Exchange server but in Outlook 2013 it works, but I remember that two Exchange domains in previous version of Outlook was not supported and hardly to get it to work.

But could that be the problem? Does anyone has an idea? We are trying to find a solution for days now, but we can't find one. We already migrated to different mailboxes, different servers etc. It's a 6 server clustered setup.

Hopefully someone can help us out here.

Hi everyone I have one domain controller behm.local and exchange server, in exchange in accepted domain I write accepted domain behm.az. All users have e-mails *@behm.az I need add new domain azintelecom.az and new users with e-mails *@azintelecom.az if I add new accepted domain azintelecom.az older domain behm.az will work?and will simply create a user exchange?and will mail work?I need both domains will work thank you.

I have been tasked with a Data Protection request and need to find any emails relating to a certain user of a period of time.  This includes restoring and searching the oldest copies of all our Exchange databases.  So far I have restored one database into a RDB.  The Exchange Search Indexer has completed its crawl of the RDB and I have a CatalogData folder in the same location as the RDB.

Questions:

When performing a Multi-mailbox search, does the database have to be mounted?

When performing a Multi-mailbox search, will items within the RDB be included?

Is it possible to perform Multi-Mailbox searches against single databases?

Prevent group members to reply to restricted group in Exchange 2010

Dears;

Anyone can help in prevent group members to reply to restricted group in Exchange 2010.

I have a mail universal security group called (All-Users), and have another DL called (Test).

The (All-Users) DL accept messages from only sender (Test) DL.

The problem is when we create any other DL like (IT) DL and put it as a member in the (Test) DL, all users’ members in ITDL can send and reply to (All-Users) DL.

I want to prevent any groups members to reply or to sends to (All-Users) DL, without using the moderation option and without disable reply to all in outlook client.

Exchange 2013 CU8 on Server 2012R2.  Multiple users with iPhones/Android/BB and tablets using POP/IMAP to get email from the server.  I am getting 4-6 of these a day and there appears to be no good reason why.

I've tested the Exchange server health more times than I've had hot coffee with no result.  Everything comes back healthy.  There are no precursors to the message.

Adding NTLM Authentication to RPC: security downgrade?

Hi everyone,

I need to install a third part tool, that requires to add NTLM authentication (for now, I have only "Negotiate") to RPC Authentications method in IIS Exchange Server 2013.

I'm concerned about security issue that this operation can brought with, or other issues about authentication with Outlook Anywhere or any other task with outlook.

The cmdlet is this one:

 Set-OutlookAnywhere -Identity:"<name-of-your-server>\Rpc (Default Web Site)" –IISAuthenticationMethods: Negotiate, ntlm

Can anyone give me some infos about this topic? Someone have already experienced security issues with a scenario like this?

Shared Folder - cannot move error - refresh breaks - master riddle

If you can solve this you are my hero.

We use exchange 2013, but these clients are using outlook 2010

We have a mailbox - lets call it PS.  It used to be a public folder and we forced them to a shared folder (totally recreated the mailbox and moved items over).  The one major issue with the clients are they were going to lose their quick clicks.  Quick click settings are independent in public folders, but are shared in shared folders (meaning if someone changes the default, it changes for all) .  We migrated to this shared folder in February.  What the users found out, and never told me, is that they were still all able to set their default quick click, and it doesn't change the others.  This is NOT how shared folders act.  infact I cannot reproduce this on ANY shared folder - but somehow they are able to.  at 5pm to 530 EVERYDAY their quick clicks start working correctly and all user default quick click settings goes back to the last person who set theirs - they throw a fit, complain and then when they start their next morning they set their quick clicks independently again and work the whole day.

This is NOT the main issue, but just some background I feel I must share.

There are about 15 users, they have their normal inbox, but they open this PS folder in a new window and work mostly out of that folder.  All 15 users are in online mode(cached disabled) due to the lag cached causes when they are trying to grab or categorize emails.  They categorize the email with their name, work on the clients file, and then when done, they mark it completed and move the email down one level to a subfolder in the PS inbox

So, as a recap, they have been using this since February.  They used this for a good month with no major issues. in late march they started to receive many "cannot move errors" .  It seems to have gotten worse over the months and all 15 users have experienced and will experience this many times a day - there is no rhyme or reason, and is very sporadic.  This error prompts when they move the message from the PS inbox, to the PS inbox subfolder.  "Can't move the items. The item   could not be moved. It was either already moved or deleted, or access was   denied" .  After the move error is received, they do not have to move the mail again, it actually DOES move the item.  however it doesn't show for that person it is moved until they refresh their mailbox, but others see it was moved. 

Users also will notice that their PS inbox will stop auto refreshing new mail, but the mailbox count in bottom left remains accurate. (which they can fix by resorting, doing a send/receive does not fix the refresh).  It appears that the refresh issue occurs when one or multiple users receive the cannot move error

We also notice strange issues like when a user categorizes the email, it doesn't appear to categorize to them - but others can see it categorized and the user has to open the email to see the category

to muddy the waters - other select users on the production floor have access to this mailbox, and every now and then, users will connect to this mailbox(incached) to lookup an email - could their infiltration cause this hiccup?

Where we are today:

  • We found this mailbox hit a size of 120GB - we have purged this mailbox and it currently resides at 20GB.  This error is notorious for having a super full deleted items or corruption in deleted so the deleted items were cleansed in full
  • All windows updates and office updates have been ran
  • NIC driver update and all power save options disabled
  • outlook anywhere disabled
  • shared mailboxes are NOT in cached
  • all users OSTs were deleted
  • all users mail profiles were deleted and reestablished
  • we use a netscaler/load balancer - we set one user to bypass this, because we thought they were getting disconnected, to try to fix the refresh error(they didn't move emails) - however it appears that the refresh error may be caused by the move error.  I think the netscaler disconnects every 2 min, so perhaps moving the file and it is disconnected, I think we will bypass the netscaler for a few users who move a lot of mail to see if any relief
  • time stamps, and having the server team look at logs have provided no help
  • Exchange is at rollup5 (I know there was an issues with similar in previous release)

I would like to start from scratch and have a full new mailbox created - but the team seems hesitant

Next steps could be to remove access from the production floor, so only the online users access this folder.

Perhaps faulty user rights, or they need elevated rights for some dumb reason, so we could up their rights

at this point I will try anything, please help :(

AD User deletion and mailbox deletion

Hello,

An AD user account linked to a mailbox was deleted several months back.  I was wondering where can I verify the retention period for a mailbox before it gets purged after the AD user has been deleted?

I've looked into Retention Policies but I am not sure they are being used since there are no mailboxes linked to the policies.

missing db in queue

i'm looking at the queue viewer and in the "Next Hop Domain" column, it shows all my mailbox databases except the new one i created.

i have already moved several mailboxes to this new database and i'm just worried if they'll be able to send/receive emails since i cannot see the new database in the queue viewer (nope i can't send test email and expect a reply because those i have moved are on vacation; i, however, have sent a test email to one anyway).

i used the browser-based ECP to create the new database and add created a database copy for it. i have also restarted the information store service on the server where i initially created the database.

is there anything missing in the steps? why isn't the new database showing in the queue viewer?

Shared mailbox in cross-forest environment

Hello

My context is as follow :

  • An account forest called A, hosting user accounts, and existing Exchange 2007 mailboxes
  • A ressource forest called B, hosting 90% of target Exchange 2013 mailboxes,
  • A resource forest called C, hosting 10% of target Exchange mailboxes.
  • ILM is used to Galsync between forests, with ticked“support cross-forest delegation“
  • Ther are forest truste between A and B, and A and C forests.
  • Autodiscover is assumed correct 
  • Shared mailboxes exist in all Exchange environments

With this configuration

  • Can a user account in A forest, with mailbox in A forest, access a shared mailbox in B forest AND C forest ?
  • Can a user account in A forest, with mailbox in B forest, access a shared mailbox in A forest AND C forest ?
  • Can a user account in A forest, with mailbox in C forest, access a shared mailbox in B forest AND A forest ?
  • Is a forest trust needed between B and C forests ?

    on shadow redundancy

    i have been monitoring my queue for a few days now and i noticed this "Delivery Type" column have a "Shadow Redundancy" type. from what i know, it's a copy of all messages sent until the destination server acknowledges successful receipt.

    my question is, why this shadow redundancy only refers to one of my mailbox servers (in the "Next Hop Domain" column)? i have two.

    1. We have a requiremnt to filter users who are not enabled "in-place eDiscovery & hold " (Ex: all newly added users in office     365 / Exchange 2013) to add to a "in-place eDiscovery & hold" policy named"xyz-365 Days"

    2. By doing this, it should not remove existing users in the policy

    The follwing are the commands related to this.
