I have an exchange 2013 running for over a year now and never had any problems with it. Until recently.
A request came in to make a new shared mailbox. So I did just that and gave rights to a security (not mail enabled) AD group. Just like I Always do. Everything worked fine. A few hours later I did exactly the same for another request and then the people could not access the shared mailbox. So I added my regular user to the AD group and I also couldn't (I tested it with OWA and Outlook). I tried to remove myself of one of my own shared mailboxes and the permissions wouldn't stick. When I removed the entire group then the permissions were gone(and I could not access the shared mailbox). When I added it back I had my permissions back but still wasn't in the group. Then I tried adding a distribution group with the same result.
It seems when I add normal users directly to the permissions everything works.
When I had to restart the server a few days later. All changes were applied but I could not change it again.
i'm a bit stumped on this one. i'm out of options.
Received this alert today:
Alert description: The Diagnostics Aggregation

The correct path for the file is: C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\Logs\Hub\QueueViewer\QueueSnapShot.XML
So the question is - what the?

Hello,
I have been requested to report on the activity of a user's email account in exchange 2013.
I am wondering what my options are for reporting on Messages Sent, Received, and Deleted if possible.
I see there is Auditing but not sure if it offers what I am looking for, not saying it doesn't but that I'm not exactly sure what all it offers in terms of reporting, after reading into it a bit it didn't seem to offer these services but I could be mistaken.
When Exchange was configured there were not modifications to the Auditing settings, I'm not sure if Auditing is set to True by default but I suspect it isn't so in this case wouldn't work regardless.
I have access to the account through delegation, so apart from emails their previously deleted, I think I could create a report just through Outlook.
Any insight is much appreciated.
Thanks.
Hi,
I have a new install of Exchange 2013 with ~30 Win 7, Office 2007 clients. Setting permissions on calendars doesn't work properly from Outlook 2007 (a known MS issue). Does anyone know if there is a fix or work around to assign permissions to the calendar?
i.e. where you right click the Calendar folder and set different levels of permission. There is a 'permission' option in OWA but this doesnt appear to work for calendars.
I have tried Outlook 2013 and that works ok. Is there alternate way to save having to move to Outlook 2013?
Thanks.
HI,
Some users are getting below error when sending mails to external accounts. we have exchnage 2010 and issue occurs only when sending mails outside the org.
The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:
'abc@xyz.com' on 6/7/2013 11:20 AM
This message could not be sent. Try sending the message again later, or contact your network administrator. Error is [0x80004005-00000000-00000000].
Some articles i found were pointing to max. recipients limits issue. But the issue happens even when sending mail to a single recipient ( SO i guess this is not the issue here ). Also mails are going out fine when sent throught through OWA.
Recreation of outlook cache profile also seems to resolve the issue.

Hello,
The get-user can retrieve the value I want to use as email address 'prefix' for a group of users. How can I couple that attribute of the user object with a different domain name we use?
Somtthing like:
get-user -resultsize unlimited -OrganizationalUnit "domain.com/Department" |Set-Mailbox -PrimarySmtpAddress=$initials + "newdomain.com" -EmailAddressPolicyEnabled $False
Any assistance is appreciated.
Best regards, Tim
I have a vendor who wants to connect to our Exchange 2013 setup using IMAP4. I have set the IMAP services on the CAS and mailbox servers to automatic and started them. However, if I test IMAP connection it fails telling me "Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP): General authentication failed. None of the authentication methods supported by your IMAP server (if any) are supported on this computer."
I am testing this from a Windows 7 machine using Outlook 2010, the test account has IMAP connection enabled. What have I missed?

I'm having trouble getting New-MailboxExportRequest to merge into an existing PST. For example if I have a user that has a personal archive enabled and I'm asked to extract their mail to a PST file. I can run one job to extract the primary mailbox and a second job for the archive, but I want the archive export to merge into the same PST file.
I've tested this a couple of times, but can't get it to work, nor do I see anything in the help file.
Let me know what you think. Thanks
Steven

Hello all,
For some reason if my 1st Exchange 2013 server disabled I am not able to use ECP of the 2nd Exchange 2013 server.
If I go https://exchange02/ecp I can see a start up page, but after I put my password and login name all I can see is a HTTP 500 Internal server error Page.
Is it normal?
I get this at boot and when restarting the Microsoft Exchange Diagnostics service ever since I updated to CU7. Anyone know anything about this?

Good day all.
This past week we had migrated from 2010 to 2013. A few mailboxes are full and I understand why this happened. What I don't fully understand is that when we edit the limits on individual mailboxes, the change doesn't seem to take right away. I made the change via EAC if that make any difference.
Is there a way to trigger this so that so that the end users see the results faster? The test I did was to simply send an email from OWA after I increased the mailbox but I got an NDR and OWA was warning me even before I sent the email that the recipient's box was full.
Thanks in advance
New installation of exchange 2013 CU7 onto fresh 2012 R2 server. Looking to migrate from exchange 2007. Installed pre-requisites, patches, all server updates. Installed exchange 2013 with no issues through the setup wizard, all went through fine. Administrator account is part of the Organization management group, however when logging into EAC, i cannot get the migration option, or any other admin options. Its as if it doesnt real;ise I am an admin at all.
When i load the exchange powershell, I have to load the snapin into it before I can run Get- Commands, such as Get-Mailboxdatabase. After i load the snapin, it works fine.
I have prepared the schema and AD, I have checked the schema version and it is running at CU7 level. I have tried creating a new admin account without a mailbox on the 2007 box, and its still the same issues. I have re-installed Exchange twice, but the end effect is always the same. No matter what account i try to log into the EAC, it doesnt give me the correct admin options. Any help is much appreciated.
thank you
Ron
If I have transaction logs on a separate drive does Exchange backpressure monitor that drive?
The following link discusses the 'message queue' database transaction logs but these seem to be different from the database transaction logs - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201658(v=exchg.150).aspx
We recently had an issue that brought into question whether this drive is being monitored. Unfortunately we didn't have old enough event logs to go through for backpressure events.
Hi there,
We are getting the following event log on our Exchange 2013 server, but cannot identify what the cause or issue being reported.

Anyone else having this issue, and what fixes/workarounds are there to stop it from occurring? Thanks.
Hello,
I have a bit of an issue with the FEP monitor on an Exchange 2013 Mailbox server. I have had some assistance from the SCOM team, and have followed the advise given but thisone server is still playing up.
After disabling the FEP check in the FEPActiveMonitoringContext, reboot, I get the following error appear in the event log every so often;
definitions were not created successfully:FEP.Maintenance.Workitem: An item with the same primary key 37 already exists in the table. Existing definition name: FEP.Maintenance.Workitem. New definition name: FEP.Maintenance.Workitem
Shortly after, this;
System.InvalidOperationException: Service MsMpSvc was not found on computer '.'. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The specified service does not exist as an installed serviceSCOM then alerts as per the event log indicates. Does anybody know how to resolve this monitor issue with EXCH?
Environment is Exchange 2013, clients are OL 2010. Have one user stating that she is still receiving emails from two different distribution groups that she is no longer apart of. Both Distribution groups are "Global" and I've verified that she isn't part of them as well as in Exchange admin center.
Where or what can I do?
Thanks,
