Exchange Server 2013 on Srvr2012r2 fails on preinstall

$

0

During the preinstall of the Exchange server 2013 on virtual Server 2012r2 the installation fails at the second step of the preinstall. I tried the wizard and it also fails station the user does not have the correct rights.

This was probably caused by myself.  When I first installed the Exchange I did not install the client and mailbox items.  When I found out this was an error I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall.

Database Doesn't Exist

I'm getting the below error message every minute, obviously the database doesn't exist. How can I verify this and then delete this so the error stops?

The Event ID is 1121, this is in the application log.

The Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service was unable to process a request due to an unexpected error.

Request GUID: '29be8b2b-1620-4bfc-9a54-a91421e9178b'

StalledDueToXXX documentation

Dear all,

currently I'm moving approx 150 TB of data from some Exchange 2013 DAGs databases to another database on the same DAG.

While the moves all are working fine in Terms of Completion, Performance is very bad. The Status  Details frequently Showed a StalledOn... status.

I did not find any good TechNet or MSExchangeOrg or some other Microsoft documentation that explains the StalledOn... status, so it's very hard to check for that issue and to handle it.

Most mailboxes showed

StalledDueToCI
StalledDueToHA
StalledDueToReadThrottle
StalledDueToWriteThrottle
StalledDueToReadCpu
StalledDueToWriteCpu

from time to time.

Can someone please provide a RTFM with links for documentation of that status? I already know abouthttp://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/jj614544.aspx that says there is a status like that, and I also understood there is some performance issue, but I want to get more detailed information for investigation.

Please let me know if there is a vendor documentation (I can only use Microsoft articles) for that.

Thanks,
Martin

Hello all,

Simple environment, one mailbox server, no DAG

Last week I created a recovery database to restore a mailbox and the recovery database has since been removed.

Getting these warnings referencing that database and am at a loss to resolve them.

The Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service was unable to process jobs in a mailbox database.
Database: Missing database (026eca3b-2899-4c05-9bea-cbc5736fd93a)
Error: Database '026eca3b-2899-4c05-9bea-cbc5736fd93a' doesn't exist.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason

3 Node DAG with DR site

Hi team,

I have a primary site with 2 CAS (WNLB) and 2 MBX servers with DAG configured. I want to extend this to include a DR site with 1 CAS and 1 MBX server. FSW on Primary site is set to CAS server.

  1. If the PRimary site goes down completely, is it correct that the DR DAG member will not come up since there's no majority?
  2. related to Q1, what steps do i need to follow to get the DR DAG node up and running?
  3. If I set up a secondary FSW on the DR Site CAS, can I get majority vote and get the DR DAG node up automatically?
  4. What's DAC's role here?

Thank you.
Chris!

Exchange 2010 Data base cache percent hit

$

Hi...

I have exchange 2010 server with 24 GB RAM and 10 data bases with around 120 mailboxes each.

We applied monitoring on Exchange perfmon counters.

Frequently i am receiving "DatabaseCachePercentHit:Critical : DatabaseCachePercentHit = 0"

Is it really critical if DatabaseCachePercentHit = 0 ?

I am recieving the same error on my edge transport server also.

Till what value i can bear this DatabaseCachePercentHit?

Any Ideas? or can i ignore if the value is 0.

Also please share me the link of perfmon counter default values for exchange 2010 that i can ignore.

Thanks in advance.

Prohibit send setting issue...

$

I have 5 different Mailbox database stores with different mailbox limits.  The Mailbox database store  for "Mail401" has the following limits;

  • Issue a warning at .2 GB (200mb)
  • Prohibit send at .22 GB (220mb)
  • Prohibit send and receive at unlimited (need users to always receive email)

I thought all was working by design but it turns out that users in this database are still able to send even though they've reached the "Prohibit send" limit.  What do I need to do to resolve this?

Lots of spam after UPN change

In preparation for a move from premises based Exchange 2010 to Office365 we recently started to change our UPNs from local domain to external domain (i.e. change UPNs from mycompany.local to mycompany.co.uk).

About 24 hours after the change our email users started receiving lots of spam.

What could be the cause of this?

Performance Counter monitors stay unhealthy even when values drop below thresholds

$

I'm investigating some (SCOM 2012) alerts on our Exchange 2013 (SP1) environment:

  • Malware filtering is taking too long (90th percentile)
  • Mailbox Transport Submission is not keeping up with the work...
  • Queue Alert: Internal Aggregate Delivery Queue (Normal Priority) exceeds threshold
  • The total number of messages in shadow queues exceeds 1500

All the monitors are Performance Counter based monitors. When I investigate those performance counters (found via the Crimson Channels in the Eventlogs ../ActiveMonitoring/Monitordefinition) all affected counters have already dropped below threshold values but the associated Health Sets stay unhealthy

IE: Get-ServerHealth -Identity '<Server>' -HealthSet '<HealthSet>'  still reports Total.Shadow.Queue.Length.Above.Threshold.Monitor as UnHealthy while perfmon reports values way below 1500 for that particular server.

How to (re)evaluate the monitors ?

LowLogVolumeSpaceMonitor

Hello

We use SCOM to monitor Exchange 2013. I always get the following alert:
Database 'MDB06' is low on log volume space. 'MDB06' is low on log volume space. Current=118.09 GB, Threshold=195.31 GB

Each Exchange database is on a different LUN. The transaction logs are on a separate LUN. That LUN has a capacity of 120GB and there are 118MB free diskspace.

I tried do an override:
Add-ServerMonitoringOverride -Server SRVEXCH01 -Identity DiskSpace\LowLogVolumeSpaceMonitor -ItemType Monitor -PropertyName MonitoringThreshold -PropertyValue ’20000’

But I still get this alert. I already spend hours to find a solution, without success.

How can I change this threshold to not always get this alert!!

Peter
