Exchange 2013 Administration

Dear All,

I am having below scenario in my company,

1) abc.local (Parent Domain) in Site A.

2) SiteA.abc.local (Child Domain) in Site A.

3) SiteB.abc.local (Child Domain) in Site B.

In (Site A) we are using Exchange 2007 Sp3 responsible to receive emails for abc.com domain.

In (Site B) we are using Exchange 2010 Sp3 with Exchange 2013 Sp1 in a coexistence scenario responsible to receive emails for abc.ae domain.

Now what we are trying to achieve is to configure Exchange servers in Site B in a way that administrator in Site B can not modify any configuration related to Site A and Global configuration but can modify every settings for Exchange in Site B.

Basically we are looking for Split permissions can anyone please let me know how can we achieve this.

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Cannot Move Exchange 2013 Database "Object couldn't be found on" Error

Hello,

I am trying to move my exchange 2013 database to a different partition, when I enter the move-databasepath command, It says the operation couldn't be performed because object "databaseName" could not be found on "Southwestdc01"

My Exchange server name is SWPSExchange, I am in the exchange management shell on my exchange server, but it's as if it is looking for the database on my Active directory server.  I have one DC, and an exchange server.  Is there a way to specify which server the database is on?  If it would only look for the database on the SWPSExchange, it would work.

i verified the database name, the issue is when I run the move-database command, it is looking for the database on the wrong server.

Exchange server 2013 showing some error on event Log ( "DCOM" and "MSExchangeMapiMailboxAppPool" )

Error : DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer ADCB.ABCD.net using any of the configured protocols; requested by PID     2bec (c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\w3wp.exe).

Error: A process serving application pool 'MSExchangeMapiMailboxAppPool' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was '2412'. The data field contains the error number.

Need Help getting rid of these errors

So I look at my exchange server today and see this in the server manager dashboard



click on AD DS and I get this



I'm sure its its something I can find out by looking at the error log but Im just not really sure what I am looking for just trying to get rid of the red highlights on Performance

Updated AD to 2012 R2 - EMC is slow to do anything

We recently updated our AD environment from 2003 to 2012 R2. Now the Exchange 2010 EMC is taking forever to do anything, doesn't return the right results, and often fails when doing AD queries.

If I launch ADUC on the same computer it works like a charm.

Does exchange 2010 cache a version of the AD topology? Is there a cache I can clear out or reset?

Exchange 2013 Hybrid Wizard

Hi Experts,

We have 2 Ex2010 servers (HUB/CAS/Mailbox) withSP3 (both on 2008-R2) located in separated AD sites, let’s say Site A and B. Site A is Internet facing (webmail.<ourdomain>) and Site B is not. We have install enExchange 2013 SP1 in 2012-R2 system in Site B to act as hybrid with our Office 365 and we have published it with a new address space (mail.<ourdomain>) different than Ex2010 is using in site A.

After the finishing of theHybrid wizard (which was completed successfully) we are facing the following issues:

Issue 1

On both Ex2010 servers the EMC displays the same warnings:

to result type Microsoft.Exchange.Data.SmtpReceiveDomainCapabilities: "mail.protection.outlook.com:512:<I>CN=MSIT Machine Auth CA 2,

DC=redmond, DC=corp, DC=microsoft, DC=com<S>CN=mail.protection.outlook.com, OU=Forefront Online Protection for Exchange, O=Microsoft, L=Redmond, S=WA, C=US"

isn't a valid list of SMTP Receive domain capabilities.

Giving “get-receiveconnector” power shell command also is interrupted with the same message.

Running the same command on Exchange 2013 is completed successfully. Ex2013 EAC has no problem at all!

That value of the property “TlsDomainCapabilities” exists only on “Ex2013\Default Frontend Ex2013” receive connector on Exchange 2013 server and only after hybrid wizard completion.

The same command Get-HybridConfiguration from Exchange 2013 power shell runs smoothly!

The value in the error parameter “Domains” is {<otherourdomain>, autod:<ourdomain>}

And finally the most unclear and unexpected error is this:

 

We have no Mail flow problems.

Received Connectors that was created in Ex2010 before hybrid wizard cannot be managed now from Ex2010 EMC/PS (but they can from Ex2013).

Please advice.

Managing Health Mailbox Growth

On my Exchange server the Health Mailboxes are continually growing and have become quite large, one has 82,456 items taking up  462.1 MB and another has 59,559 items taking up 414.8 MB.

How do you manage the growth of Health Mailboxes on an Exchange 2013 server?

Windows XP Machines Always Prompt for Credentials (Exchange 2013, Outlook 2010)

I am running Exchange 2013 on Server 2012 Datacenter (VM).  Windows 7 clients with Outlook 2010 work fine.  Windows XP clients with Outlook 2010 prompt for credentials (user name and password) each time Outlook is started, and checking the "Remember my password" box does not prevent this from happening the next time.  The "Always prompt for logon credentials" checkbox on the "Security" tab of the "More Settings" section of the Exchange account is not checked.  I have found a myriad of posts with similar issues, but they all seem to have to do with SBS/Exchange 2007, and I haven't come across something that works as a solution for me.  One suggested certificate issues, and I was having certificate security warnings, but I got that resolved.  I am hopefuly that the fact that this only happens on Windows XP will be telling.

ediscovery search failed

Exchange 2013 Sp1

When ever i try to run an "in-place eDiscovery & hold" i get the following error right away

The search server can't find an object to execute the search. Please contact you administrator for assistance. The message from the search server is "the active directory user wasn't found, <.'. 

All arbitration mailboxes exist. I have removed them all and recreated them. i have removed the discovery mailbox and recreated it as well using 'Enable-Mailbox -Discovery"DiscoverySearchMailbox {D919BA05-46A6-415f-80AD-7E09334BB852}"'

and gave the discovery group full access... all commands completed successfully. 

I have rebooted all systems as well.

test-mailboxsearch works on all databases as well.

I dont see any errors in the event viewer on the mailbox server.

SPF record and blackberry

Dear all,

We have SPF record for our outgoing mail server. The problem is when a user sends test mail from blackberry handset to his own company id, mails are going to Junk folder.

I checked the Internet message header in owa. it is showing following message.

X-MS-Exchange-Organization-Antispam-Report: DV:3.3.5705.600;SID:SenderIDStatus SoftFail;OrigIP:178.239.85.10
X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL: 6

smtp05.bis7.eu.blackberry.com (178.239.85.10)

do I need to add something to our spf record?

Is there any way to automate the process of creating Exchange accounts\mailboxes in Exchange
2010? Our AD accounts are created by our ERP. However the system is not able to create the mailbox accounts.

Unable to browse Users catalog in Active Directory from ECP

Hi,

I am in the middle off a migration job from Exchange 2007 running on a SBS 2008 server, to a new Exchange 2013 server. Everything looks fine, but I have one issue. When I try to manage a mailbox, in ECP, with a AD user object located in the Users container in Active Directory, I retrieve a error saying Can't find the organizational unit that you specified. Make sure that you have typed the OU's identity correctly.

If I try to create a new mailbox, I can not chose to place it in the Users container either.

My guess is that this has something to do with how SBS handles security. Has anyone experienced this earlier, or knows how I can solve it?

Hello!

After install or upgrade exchange 2013 ACL on some containers has changed accourding "Exchange 2013 Deployment Permissions Reference" (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee681663(v=exchg.150).aspx)

How to safety delete "installation account" without destroying exchange organization? Is it safe to delete "installation account" from ACL on Exchange containers?

I want to delete "installation accounts" and don't want to leave orphaned SID on new mailboxes.

Filter for In-place hold

Is there any way to get a server-side list of all mailboxes with In-Place holds applied? For litigation hold, we can use this:

Get-Mailbox -Filter {LitigationHoldEnabled -eq $true}

The corresponding parameter for In-Place holds however, InPlaceHolds, is multi-valued and I cannot find any way of making the filter work. I know I can filter it 'client-side', but this will not work. The whole idea is to create a filter for a custom management scope in order to create a new Role Group that will only have access to mailboxes that are put on hold.

Any ideas if this can be achieved and how?

Hi Members,

We Have Following Exchange Server 2007 Ent Setup

2 Mailbox Server

2 HUB + CAS

2 Edge 

Now I am hire as Junior Exchange Administrator , Nowadays i m just doing task like creating account ,  queue on HUB & Edge and Message Tracking on MailBox.

Now I want to know what are further day to day duties of a GOOD Exchange Administrator

Can Some one pls guide me like what should i do as my daily or weekly task like logs views,health of exchange boxes,database health or others

Exchange 2013's Antispam

Hi All

I have Exchange Server 2013 which has Mailbox role and Client Access role installed.

I have enabled Antispam but users still received lots of spam mails.

I checked the Quarantine mailbox and noticed that only Content Filter agent able to quarantine the mails. Other agents seems like not working well.

Is there any way to improve the Exchange's Antispam?

Exchange 2010 Federation with Local CA Certificates

Hi, We have two AD domains using .local, which isn't supported by external CA's from next year. Is it possible to use internal trusted CA certificates between forests. Will the Microsoft trust broker work ?
