Error when adding new database to Exchange 2013 SP1 DAG

$

This is a new Exchange 2007/2013 SP1 coexistence.

We are using IP-less DAG in 2013 SP1/Server 2012 R2. (DAG without cluster administrative access point)
There are only 2 members in the DAG and a random witness server.  Servers are MAIL101 and MAIL102 and the witness is AP104.  I've used generic domains so don't get hung up on that below.  Databases are DB1, DB2, DB3... etc..

I get the following error whenever I add a new database to the DAG.

warning
Couldn't communicate with the Microsoft Exchange Replication service on server "MAIL101.us.rootdomain.rootdomain" to pick up new configuration changes for database "DB3 Archive". Make sure that the service is running and that the server has network connectivity. Error: A server-side administrative operation has failed with this error: The database operation failed due to a transient condition. Error: The database operation failed due to a transient condition. Error: Unable to query Active Directory for database 'dbba2bc2-b1ed-4e3a-9b00-56df3e83017e'. You can try the operation again, and you may not get the error. [Database: dbba2bc2-b1ed-4e3a-9b00-56df3e83017e, Server: MAIL101.us.rootdomain.rootdomain]

Please restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service on server MAIL101 after adding new mailbox databases.

After restarting the information store the database seems to mount just fine.  Is this error common or is there something else involved here?  I get initial seeding problems on these databases as well, but again restarting the information store after creating the DAG copy and just waiting a couple minutes or telling it to resume seem to solve the issue as well.

It doesn't ultimately seem to be a problem as I can work around it in the end, but I want to make sure I won't have some sort of long standing problem or if there's a way to solve the warning.

Hi

We have a mixed 2007SP3 and Exchange 2013 CU5 eviroment.
Pretty much since CU3 (first version we installed) we have had problems with resources, but since SP1 we cannot create or edit resources.
We have a root domain and three child domains, all Exchange 2013 servers are in the root domain. The Exchange 2007 servers are located in the root and two of the child domains.

When creating a Room we get this:

Note: Pulsar is the E2013 CU5 Mailbox-server, Panerai is a Domain Controller in a child domain.

The Room is the listed but when trying to open it we get this:

In the mailbox-server log we get this log: ID 4 Source MSExchange Control Panel

The Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service was unable to process a request due to an unexpected error. : Error: An Active Directory Constraint Violation error occurred

Hello,

We have a multi domain parent child AD domain infrastructure and now we upgraded our exchange from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. Since last few days, we see the below error on the mailbox server event viewer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EVENT ID : 1121

The Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service was unable to process a request due to an unexpected error.
Request GUID: '93a7d1ca-68a1-4cd9-9edb-a4ce2f7bb4cd'
Database GUID: '83d028ec-439d-4904-a0e4-1d3bc0f58809'
Error: An Active Directory Constraint Violation error occurred on <domain controller FQDN>. Additional information: The name reference is invalid.
This may be caused by replication latency between Active Directory domain controllers.
Active directory response: 000020B5: AtrErr: DSID-0315286E, #1:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our Exchange setup is in parent domain, but we keep on getting this error for various domain controllers in each child domain in the same site. We then configured one of the parent domain domain controller on Exchange. Still we are getting this error for the configured parent domain DC.

Verified the AD replication and there is no latency or pending stuffs.

Any support  to resolve this issue will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Windows XP Machines Always Prompt for Credentials (Exchange 2013, Outlook 2010)

$

I am running Exchange 2013 on Server 2012 Datacenter (VM).  Windows 7 clients with Outlook 2010 work fine.  Windows XP clients with Outlook 2010 prompt for credentials (user name and password) each time Outlook is started, and checking the "Remember my password" box does not prevent this from happening the next time.  The "Always prompt for logon credentials" checkbox on the "Security" tab of the "More Settings" section of the Exchange account is not checked.  I have found a myriad of posts with similar issues, but they all seem to have to do with SBS/Exchange 2007, and I haven't come across something that works as a solution for me.  One suggested certificate issues, and I was having certificate security warnings, but I got that resolved.  I am hopefuly that the fact that this only happens on Windows XP will be telling.

Best way to move a 300GB Exchange 2013 database to a different drive?

$

Ok, hopefully this will be the last Exchange question for a while.

What is the best practice for moving a 300GB Exchange DB that I KNOW has corrupted items.

Unmount and then Move-DatabasePath, or should I use an alternative method? (And can you add a BadItemLimit to a Move-DatabasePath?)

I just want this to go flawlessly and have options in case one option fails.

Thank You,

Exchange 2013 - Shared Calendar problems

$

Since we put in Exchange 2013 in July 2013 we have had a problem with Shared Calendars.  Even though a User has Owner Permission on another Calendar, New Appointment is Grayed Out and the User cannot add or amend and occasionally Outlook will hang.  We have tried Outlook 2010 and 2013 Clients as well as Cached Mode and Online Access.  Exchange Server Standard 2013 CU2 was installed and this seemed to stop the problem for a while and now it has returned.

Permissions have been removed and reapplied both through the Exchange Powershell Interface and on the Mailbox.  All other aspects of the system seem fine.

Any advice would be welcome.

Retention Policies not working for migrated exchange 2007 users to 2013

Have almost completed exchange migration from 2007 to 2013. I have created and recreated retention policies in 2013 for my users. The problem i am experiencing is that any users that were migrated from 2007 don't seem to be getting the retention policies ran against their mailboxes. I have a 2013 user that i created new in 2013 and the policy i have set works as expected. Has anyone else run into this. I currently have a case open with Microsoft but I am not making any progress on it with them.

The Exchange 2013 problems just continue.. :-( HTTP 500 error when accessing ECP on the server using https://localhost using FQDN is ok

So here is the next Exchange 2013 problem.. really starting to hate Exchange 2013..

If I'm logged directly on the server, and I try to access ECP, owa by using the icon created by exchange usinghttp://localhost  I get an http 500 error after I try to authenticate why? Exchange 2013 SP1 CU5 on windows 2008 R2.  If I usehttps://127.0.0.1/ecp all is good, if I use https://fqdn/ecp or owa all is good,  but not https://localhost.  Has to do something with the IIS binding right? When I try the  *.443 binding using IIS manager bingo same issue so has something to do I think with the *:443 binding.  I check my other lab 2013 server and check bindings they look the same, so what gives?   I take the IIS logs into log parser to analyze but nothing sticks out at me.. I see http 500 errors like these.  Any suggestions?

How do you configure "ScriptAgentConfig.xml" for automatic enabling of mailbox auditing for new mailboxes?

$

I’m trying to enable automatic auditing of mailboxes upon creation and I read on some posts regarding the scripting agent config.xml. In the install directory of one of my Exchange 2013 SP1 boxes, I found the “scriptingagentconfig.xml.sample” file and renamed it to “scriptingagentconfig.xml”. I see that there is a section for auditing – “cmdlets=”new-mailbox”":

<Feature Name="Auditing" Cmdlets="new-mailbox">
<ApiCall Name="Validate">
#parameter list:
#param([ProvisioningHandler]$provisioningHandler, [IConfigurable]$readOnlyIConfigurable)
$newObjectGuid = $readOnlyIConfigurable.Guid.ToString();
</ApiCall>
<ApiCall Name="OnComplete">
#parameter list:
#param([ProvisioningHandler]$provisioningHandler, [bool]$succeeded, [Exception]$exception)
if($succeeded)
{
WriteToSQL($newObjectGuid);
}
</ApiCall>

</Feature>

Does this mean I just need to push this “xml” file to all my Exchange 2013 SP1 boxes and run “Enable-cmdletextensionagent”???? Guess I'm wondering if I can use the "sample" xml file or do I create a new one???

Exchange 2013 Performance Monitor Data Collector Sets

$

I've noticed that the Exchange 2013 install created two data collector sets within Performance Monitor:

  • ExchangeDiagnosticsDailyPerformanceLog
  • ExchangeDiagnosticsPerformanceLog

These sets are creating daily log files saved in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Logging\Diagnostics\DailyPerformanceLogs that are about 500MB in size, which are filling up our system volume.

I've tried stopping them, but they get restarted automatically. I also tried deleting them, but they get recreated automatically. Is there a way to disable these? We have a 3rd party tool that we use for performance monitoring and would like to avoid having to delete these log files on a regular basis to keep our system volume from filling up.

As a workaround, I've changed the path where the log files get saved to a non existent drive letter, but would still like to disable the Data Collector Sets completely.

Thanks,

-Cory

distribution lists containing external email addresses (mailing list)

$

Our it department wants users (about 1%) to maintain their own external (not part of company) email contacts. This contact list is an external mailing list.

We know the it department can create mail contacts in the GAL however the internal user community (99%) would not know these external email as they would be visible in the GAL, if we were to hide them from the GAL, we would not be able to add them to a distribution group

Is there a way users can maintain their own external email contact groups without creating them in the GAL?  The advice I have been reading is all directed to RBAC, mail contacts, distribution list

Can a user who has over 100 external email addresses import them to a Group Contact? If so, how? 8  (users using Outlook 2010)

Exchange 2013 SP1 and Windows 2012 R2 DAG Database Redudancy and Check Failure

I have problem with DAG in Exchange 2013;

My environment are :

2 node Exchange Server 2013 SP1 running mailbox role in Hyper-V Windows 2012 at different physical server on same subnet. The storage are in different size

Create DAG (mboxs) and add membership (mbox1,mbox2) from EAC is working fine.

But, failover never happen when mbox1 is down.

Check with Test-Replication Health there are FAILED in DatabaseRedudancy and DatabaseAvailabiliy

There were database redundancy check failure for database "MBOX.."

There were database availability check failure for database "MBOX.."

Check with Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus the databases are in mounted status and healthy ContentIndexState.

Check with validate cluster configuration there were no significant error only some warning.

Already disabled IPv6 and Windows Firewall too.

What might be the cause ? is there any workaround to solve this.

Please kindly help.
