Exchange 2013 SP1 DLP fingerprinting

$

Hello!

This page http://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn635176%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx depicts a DLP template as a document that contains some definite word pattern (The patent template contains the blank fields “Patent title,” “Inventors,” and “Description” and descriptions for each of those fields—that’s the word pattern.), and any information ADDED to this pattern will be treated as "sensitive information".

"The patent template contains the blank fields “Patent title,” “Inventors,” and “Description” and descriptions for each of those fields—that’s the word pattern. When you upload the original patent template, it’s in one of the supported file types and in plain text. The DLP agent uses an algorithm to convert this word pattern into a document fingerprint, which is a small Unicode XML file containing a unique hash value representing the original text, and the fingerprint is saved as a data classification in Active Directory."

For the testing purposes I uploaded this template to my Exchange (Sensitive.docx):

Now I can't send ANY docx file in an attachment, not only the documents derived from this template - why?

Thank you in advance,

Hello!

After install or upgrade exchange 2013 ACL on some containers has changed accourding "Exchange 2013 Deployment Permissions Reference" (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee681663(v=exchg.150).aspx)

How to safety delete "installation account" without destroying exchange organization? Is it safe to delete "installation account" from ACL on Exchange containers?

I want to delete "installation accounts" and don't want to leave orphaned SID on new mailboxes.

Greetings,

We currently have an issue with Exchange 2013. We already looked about solution almost everywhere but we didn't found it. The problem still exist and we need your help.

Problem :

We have single installation of the Exchange 2013 (single server).

Name                                    AdminDisplayVersion                     ExchangeVersion

----                                    -------------------                     ---------------

EXCH001                            Version 15.0 (Build 847.32)             0.1 (8.0.535.0)

We found that a lot of e-mails never got to the users. They are not shown at end-user so we think they get deleted. There is no information provided to the sender or receiver aswell. We did analyse the problem and we got to the problem which we don't know how to resolve. For example :

29.5.2014 13:56:40,     "No suitable shadow servers","SMTP","HAREDIRECTFAIL","RE: Gratisi HR","mailbox1@domain.com","mailbox2@domain.com mailbox3@domain mailbox4@domain.com"

29.5.2014 13:56:40,     "08D141CF6A90C09C 2014-05-29T11:56:40.534Z      0","SMTP","RECEIVE","RE: Gratisi HR","mailbox1@domain.com","mailbox2@domain.com mailbox3@domain.com mailbox4@domain.com"

Any help and information would be more than appreciated.

Active monitoring logs randomly clearing after CU5

After performing the Exchange 2013 update to CU5, we have been noticing that some of the active monitoring logs are randomly clearing. Specifically the Throttling Config, Responder Definition, Monitor Definition, Probe Definition, and Maintenance Definition logs. The only correlation I can find is in the Startup Notification logs I see an event every time the logs are cleared starting the Local endpoint manager. I looked back prior to CU5 and this event occurred infrequently, and accompanied by a handful of other startup events, now it seems to be running by itself intermittently. It isn't happening at any consistent time or date range. Sometimes we will have 2 in one day, other times it will wait 2 or 3 days to clear. Default behavior even if the log is full would be to overwrite old logs rather than perform a log clear, but I'm looking at the log and even after a full days worth there's barely 100 events in any given log. I reviewed the logs and there's no indication of trouble, no errors or warnings. Is anyone else seeing this behavior on exchange?

Is there a way out to find active exchange server topology & mail-flow currently being used in any environment in exchange server by means of cmdlets or EMC ? Please suggest.

Event ID 1012, 1010, ContentIndexHealth is Healthy

$

Hello,

My Exchange 2013 RTM search stopped working. The "Host Controller" service was failing to start. I was able to restart it by reinstalling the nodes. (My node.ini files were corrupted)

Now both search services are running and my ContentIndexHealth is Healthy.

However, I'm still having a bunch of 1012 and 1010 error coming from the search and my users are unable to use the search on OWA.

I've tried both solutions in these thread without luck :

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/ccb54c74-0a82-467f-b5d0-f095cab21f82/event-id-1012-msexchangeis?forum=exchangesvradmin

I have renamed the ContentIndex folder and they are not recreated when the services are restarted.

Thanks for your help,

Ben

Exchange 2013 - How to count number of connection to server

$

Hi all,

In my environment, I have 2 Exchange Server 2013 : ex01(Mailbox + Client Access Roles) , ex02(Mailbox + Client Access Roles). Database Availability Group : DAG01 including 2 members ex01 & ex02. I have 3 mailbox databases : mb01, mb02, mb03

               ex01                                 ex02
mb01      mounted                           healthy
mb02      healthy                             mounted
mb02      healthy                             mounted

We have about 400 mailboxes , 300+ users online simultaneously, my users access to their mailbox by using MS Outlook, OWA, Smart phone ... How can I count number of client connection to each Exchange server ?
Each server has 16GB RAM, they always use 95%+ capacity of physical memory, we will have more users in tomorrow so I want to know if we need to extend memory.

Thanks.

Exchange 2013 Message Tracking

$

Hi

As far as I know, in Exchange 2013 exists only the cmdlet get-messagetrackinglog, to do a message tracking.

But I am missing information like clientIP, ConnectorID, RecipientStatus etc. I there a way to get these information using the get-messageTrackingLog?

For example I see an eventId FAIL, but there is no information why it failed. I am really missing the good old tracking log Explorer from Exchange 2010. Or am I searching at the wrong place?

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Peter

Dynamic Distribution Group Difficulties

$

I am attempting to create some Dynamic Distribution lists on Exchange 2010, but I am having some difficulties.

What I am trying to do is create the lists based on the division each user is in ie "E - Full Time" the attribut is in AD and is listed in the attribute editor, but I cannot seem to find a way to index it with the command line:

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "test2" -RecipientFilter {(RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox') -and (division -like 'A- Officer')}

It pukes with the following error:

Invoke-Command : Cannot bind parameter 'RecipientFilter' to the target. Exception setting "RecipientFilter": ""division" is not a recognized filterable property. For a complete list of filterable properties see the command help."(RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox') -and (division -like 'A- Officer')" at position 41." C:\Users\someuser\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Exchange\RemotePowerShell\server.domain.com\server-p.domain.com.psm1:26024 char:29

+$scriptCmd = { & <<<<  $script:InvokeCommand `

+ CategoryInfo          : WriteError: (:) [New-DynamicDistributionGroup], ParameterBindingException

+ FullyQualifiedErrorId

It would seem to me that if it is a queryable attribute in the LDAP it should be able to be used as a search term from the exchange console.

ANy help would be appreciated.

Retrieving Mailbox Folder Information from an RDB

$

Hi all --

I'm looking to do a New-MailboxRestoreRequest to recover some specific folders (deeper than top-level) from an RDB mailbox to a production mailbox.  However, before I initiate the restore, I'd like to verify that the production mailbox has enough space to accommodate the folders I'm restoring.

Obtaining folder size information from production mailboxes is straightforward, but I haven't yet seen a way to do it with folders in an RDB mailbox.

I'd like to avoid having to use MAPI and keep this to PowerShell cmdlets if at all possible.

Any help/clues appreciated,

James Mooney, EMC Corp.
