not downloading the emails

About two weeks ago, something started to go wrong with outlook, it started to not downloading the emails from the inbox. We have to close and open the outlook to download emails.

Today I ran offCAT v2 to scan outlook and its showing the following error :No MX record found running ‘Nslook.exe –type=mx –timeout=15’

The SSL Certificate has been expired and under status showing date invalid.

I have downloaded the new certificate from CA (Third Party).

How i can renew the expired SSL certificate or Should install new one and how?

ECC TLS Certificate

Hi Team,

I have imported the ECC TLS cert with 384 Bits algorithm which was created from a third party security company via either EAC cert import wizard or EMS but nothing shows after the import based on the below link:

If I used mmc to import, it would crash all certificates that I could not log into EAC or could not launch EMS anymore. Then, I needed to revert the VM snapshot. Anyone knows ECC TLS cert with 384 Bits algorithm is compatible with Exchange 2013? But Exchange works for RSATLS cert with 384 Bits algorithm via mmc though! Any thought? Please advise.

Delete emails based on their subject

Hi all,

I hope you can help me wit hthe below seemingly easy problem.

I dug up the forum here but have not yet found a relevant answer.

Basically all I want is to create a script to run via Task Scheduler to delete emails from inbox(es) based on subject.

The command I use is as below
Search-Mailbox -Identity "username" -SearchQuery 'Subject:" ..subject."' -DeleteContent

It works ok when run it in PS but my Task Scheduler does not work.
I set up the task, added the action to open poweshell.exe but not sure of the argument.
Also not sure if pointing the program to powershell.exe would open the exchange management shell, however I think this is accomplished by the arguments field.
Because the script seems to work when run in exchange management shell, therefore my main suspicion is that the Task Scheduler is not pointing to exchange management shell.

Could anyone advise me the steps I need to take to complete the task please?

Exchange 2013 - RBAC Read Scope

Hi folks,

I've created a Role Group that will allow me to give a colleague admin access to a specific subset of recipients, defined by OU.  This all worked as expected until I realised that the admin could see ALL recipients in the organisation.

After spending some time looking into the reasons why, it appears that this is defined by the "ImplicitRecipientReadScope" field in the Management Role and as this is set to "Organization", it cannot be changed.

I've tried a few things, like creating a Management Role using "MyDistributionGroups" as the parent role.  The thinking behind this was that it's "ImplicitRecipientReadScope" is set to "MyGAL", which would have worked well for me as all users I need that admin to...administer are part of the same custom GAL.

When trying to create a Role Group based on the above though, I received the following error:

"WARNING: The  database management scope won't be applied to the role assignment for the management role because this role has an implicit scope MyDistributionGroups that's smaller than the specified scope."

Does anyone know if there is a way to do what I require here?  It sounds like it should be possible and a little more straightforward than this.

Exchange 2013 public folders briefly going unavailable

I'm curious if anyone else has run into anything similar to this, I'm looking for a place to start investigating a little more thoroughly.

One of my clients is seeing their Exchange 2013 public folders stop working in Outlook. Users complain that Outlook says it can't open the public folders, and sometimes may just crash Outlook. Meanwhile we'll also notice queue buildups going to the PF database. Finally, we'll also notice that in EAC, the public folders view will be empty. Items in the queue to PF mailboxes will show the following error:

STOREDRV.Deliver.Exception:StorageTransientException.MapiExceptionTimeout; Failed to process message due to a transient exception with message Cannot open mailbox /o=Business/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=server/cn=Microsoft System Attendant. 16.55847:7E000000,

Then all of a sudden, the public folders are back, the queues will flush out, and the folder structure in EAC is back to normal. Usually seems like it's maybe somewhere between 10-30 minutes where it's unavailable. We're trying to map out the timing a little bit, see if we can find anything we can associate it with - we do know it came up a couple times while doing DB restore jobs, but it also came up when that's NOT been happening.

The database doesn't show it's dismounted in powershell, and the application log doesn't show any issues either. For all intents and purposes, everything looks fine. We've even mounted the DB on its DAG partner, but we've seen this come up again anyway.

My only suspicion is maybe it's related to a third party application blocking access for some reason, but I'm not sure why that would happen. That said, I don't want to rule out the possibility, so if anyone has any experience with that, I'd love to hear it.

And if anyone has any suggestions on where to search for clues, I'd also love to hear that. Thanks!

Hi,

We use Exchange 2010 Standard version.

Please let me know how to identify how many users we can create.

Is there any client license to be purchased to create users and allocate mailboxes. Or it only depending on the resources that we can create any numbers of mailboxes and only outlook client licenses are required?

Hi All

We have a problem with exchange 2010 (got all the updates and rolups) where now and then people loosing ability to search they emails (NOT a local issue, test-exchangesearch fails) and we have to re index mailbox databases by running ResetSearchIndex.ps1 .

Can anybody point me in the right direction to find why it is happening - which logs do I need to search and what to look for etc. Maybe somebody had similar issue and managed to resolve it.

Move database vs create new then move mailboxes

Were out of space on the drive that contains our Exchange dBs.  I have a new 1 TB drive that I can mount to the Exchange server.

Question:  Is it better to move the existing dBs to that new drive or to create new databases then move the mailboxes to the new dBs?

I think the latter requires less downtime, if any.  Am I thinking about this correctly?

today i created a new mailbox for an internal active directory user.

The icon display on the contact from search by outlook client is a global with a person on the right. Why is there that icon?

At the beginning i don't have select the appropriate login name. i had select .lan instead .com

Where i wrong?

Hi

When I run this commands in Interactive PS session:

$Date=(Get-Date).AddMonths(-1)
$FullFilePath=\\...\Serivce.pst
New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox Service -FilePath $FullFilePath -ContentFilter {(Received -lt $Date) -and (Sent -lt $Date)}

it works!

When I run these commands in script, mailbox export request end with "Failed" status.

Get-MailboxExportRequest | Get-MailboxExportRequestStatistics -IncludeReport | fl * I get:

...
Report: ...
            ...
            24.09.2018 14:10:30 [Tos127] Fatal error InvalidContentFilterPermanentException has occurred.

What is the problem? Is it a bug in New-MailboxExportRequest command?

Exchange 2016 standard version mailboxDataBase 1TB limit

Hello Everyone

we install exchange2016 dag by standard version, meet database will autodismount exceede 1TB,

I try modify regedit to 16TB,

mount-database  - Force and no error, and no anything, but database also is dismount status,

Do other people meet this issue?

or I need upgrade standard licence to enterprise , but is this only path to solve it?

Hello

First of all this is not an Outlook Client issue, this happens in OWA as well and all inbox rules are turned off. 

No transport rules include this mailbox and it is not set to automatically move spam mails.

It will continue with the user disabled, same with Outlook Anywhere.

This first happened when we received this email the 18th of August but a colleague of mine resolved it back then. 

The exact same email(same time/date/content/sender/recipient) is now multiplying in the thousands and is not stopping. This causes an increase in log files(multiple per minute) and eventually the logdrive will fill up Unless we delete mail manually. 

This is the first time I've seen "spam" not actually being spam. There is no new emails from the sender and the sender has been blacklisted.

Any ideas? 

By the way, even tho I disabled automatic move from Junk to Deleted Items, it still continues. Junk email folder is at most a 5th of the deleted items folder's size. 

Additional info: 
Exchange 2013, but hybrid. This mailbox is on-premise. 




What is the format of exchange server logs(EWS)?

I have ews logs coming from my client and I am supposed to parse it in logstash. I am not able to understand the format for ews logs nor I can find some documentation on its log format. I am pasting one of the logs here. I have changed some of the information while keeping the format same. Can anyone please explain to me what each fields mean and what ",,,,," means? or even point to proper documentation will be helpful.

Exchange Management Shell fails to connect to Exchange Server 2013

Hi,

I have installed Exchange Server 2013 on the 2012 Server successfully. The Exchange server is joined to a domain and logged in as domain administrator. I can login to Exchange Admin Center configured and OWA with no problem. I have configured the Exchange Server with multiple mailboxes and everything works fine.

When I launch Exchange Management Shell, it fails to connect to Exchange Server 2013 and following error message is given.

Change the configuration to allow Kerberos authentication mechanism to be used or specify one of the authentication mechanisms supported by the server. To use Kerberos, specify the local computer name as the remote destination. Also verify that the client computer and the destination computer are joined to a domain. To use Basic, specify the local computer name as the remote destination, specify Basic authentication and provide user name and password.
