Database size vs public folder mailboxes

$
0
0

Scenario:

EX2013

Running command: "Get-MailboxDatabase -Status | select ServerName,Name,DatabaseSize,AvailableNewMailboxSpace" list all of DB's and their's WHITE SPACE.

In Public folders Database the output for database size is: 126.9 GB and WhiteSpace: 90 MB.

Looking thru ECP I see that Public folders Database contains 4 PF Mailboxes.

PF Mailbox 1 (primary hierarchy) = 92.8 GB
PF Mailbox 2 (secondary hierarchy) = 94.89 GB

PF Mailbox 3 (secondary hierarchy) = 9.61 GB

PF Mailbox 4 (secondary hierarchy) = 12.41 GB

So SUM of all PF mailboxes is 209,71 GB but Get-MailboxDatabase of PF database shows 126.9 GB. Don't understand where are the missing 82.81 GB?

EDB file size of public folder DB on disk shows: 126 GB.

Hello,

I have problém with distribtution groups membership. I wan to add or remove users from group but in Outlook I get "Changes to the distribution list membership cannot be saved. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object". When I tried OWA it works perfect.

I tried some scripts like this link: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/exchange/2009/11/18/how-to-manage-groups-that-i-already-own-in-exchange-2010/, but didnt help at all.

Thanks for advice

I'm new to this environment, but we have some strange access to an executive's mailbox. I see permissions temporarily being set to an executive's mailbox, but mailbox auditing is not enabled. Is there a way to see what may have been accessed? Thanks

Exchange Database Error

Hello

I have a DAG set up with 3 Servers one of my servers has the following message. I am seeing passive healthy and Index helthy just a queue of 9223372036851609712 with the following message.

The timestamp indicating the age of the last log generated on the active database copy is '08/14/2018 10:56:51 AM', which is stale or missing. As a safeguard, the system set the copy queue length to a large value to prevent losses greater than the automatic database mount dial setting.

I have noted that the Time on the error is 3hrs ahead of the server time. the time zone is correct and the time on the physical server is correct.

Retention policies not working on clients

We have Exchange 2010 Enterprise.

Retention policies are applied to mailboxes from Exchange Server.

I see them applied on outlook policies tab. But not affected.

Eg: Deleted items folder and Junk mail folder will only keep items for 1 day, then these should delete. This is applied, but items are not deleted as per the policy.

I have run start-managedfolderassistant to start the MRM. Still the same issue exists. Please assist me.

Dear Exchange expert,

We are using exchange server 2010 and now we are on the migration to office 365.

Currently as the administrator, we are helping users to do the archiving before migration. currently, I am only able to extract the mailboxes of specific database with the size of each. may I know whether possible to extract with both mailboxes size and also the last logon time on those mailboxes and export to excel?

appreciate your advise.

Hello,

Can someone please help, I need a PowerShell command that will give me the senders address, date and time a email was received into a mailbox - on a daily basis.

Any idea how I could achieve this.

I tried:

Get-MailboxFolderStatistics "Payment" | Where {$_.Name -match “Inbox”} | Select SenderAddress, Date, ItemsInFolder | Export-csv c:\temp\MailboxItemCount.csv

I don't think I'm using the correct thing at all, my knowledge is very limited.

Hi,

We currently have Exchange 2013 & 2016 in Coexistence different sites.
Our 2013 admins cannot move a mailbox to a differant store from 2013 to 2013 (A version mismatch was detected (Actual:6, Expected:5).
But myself from the 2016 ecp can move the mailbox for them.

A server-side administrative operation has failed. The Microsoft Exchange Replication service may not be running on server XX

Hi All,

This error has randomly being popping up on our Exchange 2013 CU13 on a server 2012 R2 environment for a while at random.

So far it doesn't seem to be impacting production but I fear it might soon as it is happening more often

This is the error;

A server-side administrative operation has failed. The Microsoft Exchange Replication service may not be running on server XX.domain. Specific RPC error message: Error 0x71a (The remote procedure call was cancelled) from RpccGetCopyStatusEx4

It is happening on different servers in both of our DAGS.

It is also totally random which server it happens on, times it happens, this makes theContent index state for the databases on the server affected go into an unknown state

Also when I check the MS Exch Replication service it is in a running state.

We use PRTG closely monitor our exchange servers and it throws up this error for the affected databases

[PRTG Network Monitor (******)] ServerName Exch DB DAG: DB Name (Exchange Database DAG (Powershell)) Down (Cannot invoke the pipeline because the runspace is not in the Opened state. Current state of the runspace is 'Broken'.)

Any help advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi All

Its just occurred to me today that my Exchange receive connector Frontend SMTP Protocol logs are exactly 1 hour behind on the time stamp. The time in the headers is correct but the protocol log date stamps are wrong. The Server (2012R2) time and timezone is correct.

Is it correct that Exchange logs are set to UTC?

Unable to turn AD FS authentication on the OWA virtual directory

I am trying to set up AD FS authentication with the owa virtual directory while following this TechNet article:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn635116(v=exchg.150).aspx#party

I have successfully gotten the ECP virtual directory to authenticate against the AD FS & AD howecver when I try to configure the OWA virtual directory I receive an error message while setting the field to true:

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-OwaVirtualDirectory | fl AdfsAuthentication

AdfsAuthentication : False

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Set-OwaVirtualDirectory -AdfsAuthentication $true
A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'AdfsAuthentication'.
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [Set-OwaVirtualDirectory], ParameterBindingException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : NamedParameterNotFound,Set-OwaVirtualDirectory
    + PSComputerName        : adfs.vaultiveps.com

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>

I have used the full command mentioned in the technet article but I received same results....

Is there a workaround to get OWA to authenticate against AD FS?

EMC 2010 - Manage Send As - Removal of Person - ACE Error

$

Trying to manage some send as permissions on a shared mailbox.

There were 14 on there, 6 came off fine, the other 8 had the following error:

Error: Can't remove the access control entry on the object 'CN...........' for attribute "ExtendedRight (ObjectType: ab.........)" because the ACE isn't present.

We don't have the permission to use PS on exchange, only able to do stuff from the EMC.

We have this happen before, and a colleague fixed it using ADSIEdit, but can't remember what or how now.

The users are all still valid users, it's just we are about to migrate domains, and are tidying people into groups to make life easier going forward.

Anyone able to advise?

Thanks

I'm trying to enable Audit logging after having gone to Compliance management and not receiving a report for non-owners. Seems that this was turned off, but when I used the management shell to turn it back on, I got nothing. Are there any other options? Are there any tools/software that can be run on our Exchange Server?
