mailbox really empty?

$
0
0

After moving out mailboxes in databaseOld to another mailbox database (databaseNEW) how can I tell if everything is really out of the Old one?
When I defrag it, it was 680gigs now it's 160gig. (If it's truly defragged / compacted it should be way less that 160gb)

What could be taking up the space?
Room resources are on New, Public Folders are on new...so what the heck is left?? How can I tell?

Thank you..

Brett

Hi world,

I'm creating a new DDG that I want to contain all mailbox users in multiple Organization Units ...but after creating is success .....the group is empty !

my command to create the group:

New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "All_Female_Faculty" –OrganizationalUnit "OU=Internal,OU=EMAIL,DC=nu,DC=edu,DC=sa" -RecipientFilter {(RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox') -and (RecipientContainer -eq 'OU=XXXXX,OU=XXXXX,OU=XXXXX,DC=XXX,DC=XXX,DC=XXX' -or RecipientContainer -eq 'OU=XXXXX,OU=XXXXX,OU=XXXXX,DC=XXX,DC=XXX,DC=XXX' -or RecipientContainer -eq 'OU=FACULTY,OU=FEMALE,OU=UnknownCity,DC=nu,DC=edu,DC=sa')}

the syntax of the command is correct .....and the OUs containing a lot of users with mailboxes, however no results come back when I query the group !!

Hi Techies,

I am trying to get Mailbox statistics using Remote Powershell as an Administrator.

Situation:

We have a remote customer site.  lets say their internal domain is domain.local and external is domain.com.

At the remote customer site we have server01.domain.local as fqdn.

The remote customer site uses 172.90.140.X

Our site uses 172.90.141.X

in between is a vpn with the most common exchange ports open in both ways:

25/TCP (smtp)

53/UDP (dns)

53/TCP (dns)

443/tcp (webservices)

80/tcp (webservices)

143/tcp (imap)

993/tcp (imap)

110/tcp (pop)

995/tcp (pop)

587/tcp (smtp)

We have a DC at our side and we are using the same domain. in addition we are also in the same exchange forest.

our server is called server02.domain.local.

I can mail fine between users hosted on databases in each site. in addition i can create users "remotely" by powershell and the gui.

However i cannot seem to move users from one site to another. When i execute the following:

New-MoveRequest -Identity test.migrationmbx@domain.com -TargetDatabase "MBX database 3"-whatif

i get the following error message:

MapiExceptionNetworkError: Unable to make connection to the server. (hr=0x80004005, ec=2423)

I have found an article stating that you should update dns or your hostfile to include the fqdn of the server.

However i have tried pinging towards each side by using the netbios and fqdn names. Both work, towards each side.

So currently i am at a complete loss. please help me resolve the issue.

dynamic distribution group - several OUs are missing

I'm trying to setup a dynamic distribution group (DDG) based off an OU in my Exchange 2013; however, when select "add a rule", selected "Recipient Container" then "select one". In the "select an organization unit" screen, several OU are missing to include the OU "Identity Access Management"

When I go into my 2010 Exchange and create a  dynamic distribution group the "select an organization unit" screen lists all my OUs to include "IdentityAccessManagement"

Question: What do I need to do so that when I create a DDG, I see all OU in the "select an organization unit" screen in my Exchange 2013 environment?

Current environment:

My exchange is configure as a hybrid to office 365

All user's mailboxes are located in Exchange Online

Exchange 2010 is in the process to be decommission (waiting on public folders)

Exchange 2013 will be replacing 2010

Issues with the Calendar

I have an exchange server that has a couple of issues.

1-some of the meeting requests arrive days or weeks late. This is happening both internally and externally.

2-When a meeting is canceled a couple of days later the invitees for the said meeting will get an invitation to the same event even though it has been canceled.

I read online that this could be related to the calander becoming corrupted or out of sync. What do I need to do to fix this?

Hello dear members,

Have a problem with the Exchange server 2013, with login.

2 servers running both Windos Server 2012 R2

I have installed 2 servers.
- 1 Domain server with AD
- 1 Server he is member of Domain. And there I installed fresh Exchange 2013

But after the installation, I want to try login in the ECP url on the exchange or on the AD server.
But when im entering the domain\name (Test.local\administrator) it's only refreshing. It DOESN'T go login.
And if I enter a wrong password it says that the username or the password is incorrect, so i'm filling the correct password.

Why I can't login on the \ecp webpage.
Hope you guys can help me with this painfull problem.

Could anyone please explain what is the use of Exchange Diagnostic service in exchange 2013 edge server?  What is the harm If I disable that service ?

I see that none of the exchange service/windows service depends on this service.

Hi,

I'm looking for some guidance on this if possible.  We've rolled out our first Exchange 2013 environment and we're receiving the following event log entries:

I don't appear to see any issues with this however I don't fully understand what it's trying to tell me?

Essentially I want to stop it alerting out of hours and waking up our on call engineers.

Any advice/explanations would be welcome.

Hello,

I have just inherited a slightly abused new server as part of my job and it looks like the previous admin was using a live single domain as a test bed.

From what I have been able to determine this windows 2008R2 server started life as a single name domain (no FQDN) that had exchange 2013 running on it (sin I know).  A domain rename was performed and from what I can tell it did change the domain name to a FQDN environment.  (it went for COMPANY to COMPANY.COM)

I have been able to clean up most of the other ghosts in the machine except when it comes to exchange.  I get event ID 2142(error), 2077 (info), and 2069 (info) repeatedly it cycles every 2 minutes:

It looks to me that exchange is still looking for the old domain name.  Does anyone know how to point it to the correct domain name?

Exchange is currently down and I am unable to log into EAC, OWA or Exchange Management Powershell.  I am also unable to un-install exchange as it is reporting active mailboxes and I can't delete them because I am unable to log in.

My overall goal is to remove exchange from this server and put it on a separate server but until I can get exchange working to a point where I can remove the mailboxes, I am stuck.

Any and all help appreciated.

Linked mailbox users cannot change their password in OWA/ECP

Hi All,

My environment running exchange 2013 servers with several remote forests. We are using linked mailbox and the users find that they cant change their password in ecp.

It will prompt an Error "Your password couldn't be changed. Make sure the old password you typed is correct and that the new password meets the minimum security requirements."

Also, i find that the error should be a false prompt, the linked mailbox user password is actual changed to the new password they have been entered.

I search for this issue, but i cannot find any related information about linked mailbox is supported to change password in owa or not.

BTW, i ensure that the gpo password policy is same for both resources forest and remote forests. I have no idea why it prompt an error but the password has been changed correctly.

Any help will be appreciated.

Best regards,

Andrew Hon

Exchange 2013 CU13 - New Distribution Group - OU Blank

Hello all - We recently upgraded our Exchange environment to CU13.  We noticed now that when a user creates a distribution group via ECP..the "Select an organizational unit" is blank.  This was working prior to the CU13 upgrade.  The windows says "There are more results available than are currently displayed.  There are no items to show in this view."

I attempted to adjust the web.config file to display more results, but that did not do anything either. Screen shot is attached...please let me know if anyone has any ideas
