Question about removing my archive databases.

$

I am using Exchange 2010 but could not easily find the category for Exchange 2010.

I have two old archive databases that I created 3 years ago in hopes that my users would start using the archiving functionality in Exchange 2010.  We tinkered with it but it never caught on and my users still backup email to pst files.  Anyway I want to remove both archive databases.  When I look at the EMC I don't have anyone that is assigned an archive database.  I can't see where they are being used at all.  I used to back them up using Windows Server Backup but I don't back them up any more because they are not being used.  Anyway I want to remove the archive databases.  What do I need to check or verify before I remove them?  thanks

Emails marked as spam from a user in my domain to a user in my domain

Valid Emails are being marked as spam and going to the junk folder.
The emails are from a user in my domain to a user in my domain.
We are running Exchange 2013 but still have our legacy 2007 exchange server that we are using for public folders until I finish the conversion.
Any suggestions on what setting I have missed or need to set?

Hi,

Does anybody know of a way to pull the names of all shared mailboxes that do not have a listed owner/manager?

Preferable using a Powershell script/command.

Thanks in advance

Exchange 2013 MSExchangeFastSearch Event id 1009

Hello,

We have been running Exchange 2013 CU7 with DAG since early this year and no issues.  Last weekend I upgraded to CU10 and now I am seeing errors on one of the server where all the copies remain passive.

Usually I have seen this event if before when we failover and restart the server but now it just comes while everything running normally.  This error message has this line "The Content Submission Service returned failure for the document: Document timeout expired" which is different than those message which I see during failover.  I restart Microsoft Exchange Search service and everything again goes to normal then after some time again I see this error.

Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus shows "ContentIndexerrormessage" "Failed an Internal error occurred for the database or its index".

This occurred on different database sometimes multiple databases.  Restart of search service fixes it for some time.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2807668

I am aware of this link but my error message is slightly different as I mentioned above and restart of search fixes it for a short time.

Hi

Is there any difference enabling mail forwarding from outlook client transport rule & Exchange server transport rule?

Looks there might be significant exchange server CPU performance affect if we enable exchange server transport rule. if we enable outlook client transport rule, how it works by avoiding server performance?

Multiple Email addresses on one account

I have one MSN account with multiple email addresses associated with it.

I just updated my automatic payment info for the MSN service but the system keeps sending notifications to my wife's email address that her email service will be terminated because they can not charge the credit card.  Here is the note sent to her:

We have been unable to charge the credit card for your subscription. If you purchased other Microsoft services with this card, those services may also be affected. To prevent any service interruptions, please update your payment information.

How do I make sure all the emails associated with my account (which has valid payment info) are noted as in good standing??

Exchange 2013: Disable SMTP Relay

In the Exchange 2013 Web console, how do I disable SMTP relay so spammers can't use that old trick of sending to a non-existent Exchange address to generate an outbound NDR?  Thanks.

Exchange authentication_Internal & External

Hi There,

There are so many authentication types being used by Exchange and Outlook, I understand they can by turned ON and OFF based on the requirement.

1. When I see in IIS --> authentication for each virtual directories or the root directory , it says some list of authentications.

2. When I see in the EMC , each services (AS , OA, OWA) using either basic or NTLM.

my confusion is, in what scenarios what authentication mechanism should be used or will be used by outlook.

1. Which auth mechanism an internal client use to authenticate?

2. Which auth mechanism an external client use to authenticate?

Cancel the current migration request Exchnange 2007 and just set up new public folders on Exchange 2013

After a failed migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 my users lost access to their Public I went though the roll back process without any errors but they still cannot see the folders.

Now it appears that my Public Folders on Exchange 2007 are now corrupt and not usable.  I do have a backup of all of them in a pst file.

Is there a way to cancel the current migration request and just set up new public folders on Exchange 2013 then copy my pst backups to the new folders?

Old OAB LZX Files

$

Hi All,

I have a large number of old LZX files (dating back to about 3 years) in my OAB virtual directory.  Any idea why these are hanging around?  I would think when the OAB is updated nightly that they would be flushed into the initial OAB file.  Perhaps this is a poor assumption?  Any insight as to why these are hanging around would be great.  The environment has been in place for longer than 3 years so at some point these files were getting cleaned up.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Delagate Access question

When someone leaves the company, we temporarily allow a person (supervisor) to access that older email In EAC, under mailbox delegation, I add the person required to that particular mail box.

But people I do this for, when they click on the mailbox link in their outlook (2010) client, they get a error, "unauthorized to access folders.."

Can anyone tell me why and a work around to stop this? Some people it appears to work fine (as it should), other not.
I've tried to compare the people effected in AD and they have the same rights.

Thank you.
Brett

Event Driven Task based up emails

$

I come from a Domino background and one the nice things about it I can create a script that runs when a new email arrives in a mailbox and do a specific task..

Can something like that be done with a Exchange  / Outlook environment?

Example:
a email comes in to a mailbox.
a script is set to trigger when new mail is in that inbox.
-script checks for particular string in the subject field.
-script reacts to certain text in the body of the message.

- script does it's task, and sends the response back to the original sender.

One real world example would be a sales manager getting all members of a particular group (RSM in particular - remote and company based) and verifying and using the list entries.
This way I am not required to deal with this and it's a automated process.

Running Exchange 2013 for On-Premise Exchange and configure for Hybrid to Office 365.

All user mailbox resided in office 365 but I have to edit account information using on premise Exch2013

In our organization we allow a person who gets married and wish to change their display name, login id and email address. The Display name and alias/login id is change by our FIM team.

My question:

what would be the best way (Best Practices) to change the user SMTP address to the new alias in Exchange 2013 and how do I update thex500 and x400 address to reflect the change in the user's new alias?
