How do I change a retention policy that is set on an Archive Mailbox?

$

I have inherited a 2010 Exchange Server with several archive mailboxes that were set up by the previous admin.  I just found out they have a 120-day retention setting applying to all mail messages in both his regular mailbox and archive mailbox. I wish to set the archive mailbox to be 7 year retention.  There is no 7 year retention policy defined yet, so I need to create one and apply it but am rather new to retention policies. From what I am reading in blogs, I am not even sure separate retention can even be set on them.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Intermittent Scan to Email

Hi- Running 3 node DAG, CAS/MBX on 1 server, MBX only on other two (I know, not best practice). Also have an Edge Transport Server in the DMZ. This is the tail end of my upgrade/migration from Exchange 2010. We've been using the new servers for about two months.

I have two network printers that do Scan-to-email. They seemed to have been working fine for the past couple of weeks. Now, we are having issues where emails from those printers may or may not get to the domain user recipient. I have a receive connector set up on my CAS server that accepts anonymous connections and has the printers' IPs listed.

This is a entry in the SMTP Send Log:

I've got my domain and the email address of the printer as exceptions in the Sender ID Config. I've can't find any corresponding entries in the Message Tracking logs or Agent Logs or any other logs (did a search based on file contents and used the subject of one message that disappeared)

I've checked DNS and mail.domain.com points to the internal IP of my CAS server. The SMTP server setting on the printer points to the same IP.

So where else can I look?

Thanx

Raising the 25% memory limit

Is it possible to raise the 25% memory limit? I've read that it is hard coded but what I read was over a year old. I find that 25% is pretty low and would like to allocate more than 25% to improve the hit cache.

Exchange 07 DCPromo Nightmare

Evening all,

I have ran a dcpromo on an old exchange 07 VM that was also a DC. I made sure global catalog and FSMO were pointing to the other DCs. I did a force DCPROMO to remove it....I know I shouldn't have. After reboot exchange seems to be broken (go figure) I rejoined the VM to the domain and now when I try to access webmail It can't communicate to the DCs

After reading way to late in the game I see should have migrated Exchange to another VM and then decommissioned this.

Can someone please help me out?

Hi guys.

Popproxy goin constantely inactive.

We are on  CU 11.

We need manually running this command: Set-ServerComponentState -Identity exchange.domain.com -Component PopProxy -Requester HealthAPI -State Active

It is ok for a couple of hours then it goes to inactive state.

Currently we have assumption that it goes to inactive state when Windows server backup is doing backup of exchange server to external disk.

Please advise how to solve his problem permanently.

Do i have to run this command on all the default receive connectors as shown below.

Client Frontend mydomain FrontendTransport
Client Proxy mydomain HubTransport
Default Frontend mydomain FrontendTransport
Default mydomain Hubtransport
Outbound Proxy Frontend mydomain FrontendTransport

(I was not aware of exch 2013 forum so i had raised this issue in exch 2007 forum also)Please do advise.

Thanks.

Exchange admin center error when selecting groups

From the Exchange admin center, under recipients when I select groups I get the following error:

"Your request couldn't be completed.  Please try again in a few minutes."

I don't get this error anywhere else in the exchange admin center.  After clicking OK on the error I can still manually type in a group and find it.

Mailbox Full Notification

Hello

Can you all lovely people advise me with my canandrum?

The notification worked fine, to the best of my knowledge, until November 2015, and we have migrated from 2010 to 2013 at the end of 2014 beginning of 2015.

So it did worked for good 10 months or so.

I have tried this on ECP and every time I am getting this message:

I have tried over the past hour at different intervals, so that is frustrating as well.

Am I missing something big here?

Also I know the limits and stuff are set ok as I get this when I run command in powershell:

I believe that we have CU6 according to this website:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh135098%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx

Any input ideas will be welcomed.

Error 500 when accessing the EAC / ecp

Hello All,
I am running an Exchange 2013 and have zero problems until about a week ago. All of a sudden I cannot access the EAC. When I try to access the eac I enter my administrator credentials then I get a error 500.
OWA and all other Exchange functions work fine.
I have removed and recreated the ecp virtual directory. I have checked and double checked the ecp authentication in IIS. I have been researching this issue but none of the fixes I have seen has fixed my problem. Any and all help would be much appreciated.
Exchange is running on a Server 2012r2 virtual machine.

Thank you for your help!
Brian

Monitoring Mailboxes don't exist

$

I have a situation where a newly installed Exchange 2013 server contains no monitoring mailboxes. The Microsoft Exchange System Objects/Monitoring Mailboxes OU exists, but does not contain any accounts. the get-mailbox -monitoring powershell command returns nothing. I've restarted the Health Monitoring service, but no accounts/mailboxes are created. There also doesn't appear to be any Error events logged to say that Exchange is having a problem creating these accounts, although I don't know specifically where this would be logged.

The environment is currently in coexistence with Exchange 2010.

Thanks

Public Folder Mailboxes have e-mail addresses?

$

We received questions from users that they see a strange e-mail address behind the 'public folders'-folder in Outlook. Normally, you should see your own e-mail address behind 'public folders' so you know from which account it is.

As you can see in the following picture, you will see "Openbare Mappen - PFMBRoot@***.nl"

Openbare Mappen is dutch for public folders. PFMBRoot is the name of the public folder mailbox where should be the public folder hiërarchy.

Outlook 2013 mailbox list

With the command "Get-Mailbox -PublicFolder -Identity PFMBRoot |FL", I noticed the settings PrimarySmtpAddress, WindowsEmailAddress and EmailAddresses. They are all filled with the e-mail address PFMBRoot@***.nl.

How can I be sure that this e-mail address is not shown in Outlook? And why doesn't it show the address off the user itself?

Exchange 2013 Mail Enable Existing Security Groups

Hello,

I can't seem to find how to mail enable an existing Security Group in Exchange 2013.  Does anyone know how to do this?  I have created them as Universal Security Groups in Active Directory.  I see that if you create them from the Exchange Admin Center, it will work, but I have a ton of groups with very complicated memberships that exist in AD and I would prefer not to delete them, recreate them, and adjust membership.

I looked for a cmdlet that would let me do this, but I can't seem to find one.

Does anyone know how to Mail Enable an Existing Group from Exchange 2013?

Thanks
